Big Piney Creek is 7.5 & rising! We will not be open today due to high water. Our access at the Twin Bridges is also closed…the Creek is in the road, you can not drive in or out. We are thankful for the rain! Big Piney will be floatable for a couple more weeks! Water in the Creek on 4th of July? I’m thinking it’s a good possibility!

Here it is, Friday again! Big Piney is 2.75 this morning on the Long Pool gauge. The weather? Your guess is as good as mine, it’s cloudy at the moment, which makes it a little cooler. Looks like the chances of rain for Saturday have dwindled. We will be renting boats & running shuttles between 9:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. through the weekend. Adults only until we get the willow jungle situation lined out! Y’all be careful out there!

There’s a bad spot on the Long Pool to Twin Bridges run, anyone that has been on it lately will know what I’m talking about. We warn everybody we see, but we don’t see everyone that has their own boat. It’s not too far above the Bridges, so it’s close to the end. It’s where the bank is caving in from erosion on river right, the red clay bank. There’s a willow jungle as you enter the rapid & it’s pushing you HARD into the willows on river left. You HAVE to paddle HARD to keep from getting washed into them. It’s dangerous & there have been some very close calls on it lately. One guy with his own boat told me he thought he was going to drown yesterday. I have heard reports of people getting their clothes snagged in them & having to be rescued by someone on the Creek behind them. Even seasoned paddlers are being caught unaware of the strong current. Please spread the word. It’s no joke. BE CAREFUL! Until this is remedied in some way we will not put kids on the Creek! Please plan accordingly!

Now, that’s what I’m talking about!

Now, that’s what I’m talking about!

Arkansans rejoice! A cold front early next week looks to bring us a reassuring push of cooler and slightly drier air.

Low temperatures could be in the 50s & 60s Tuesday morning. Lower humidity will feel so nice.
