Mr. Mazza, known affectionately as PAPPY, was a cornerstone of the Dinwiddie Airport Board for over 15 years. His extensive knowledge of both aviation and business made him an invaluable asset to the community. PAPPY was not just a board member; he was a mentor to many, inspiring the next generation of aviators and enthusiasts, particularly the youth in the airport community. His passion for flying was evident in his captivating stories and the joy he brought when he took to the skies in the SNJ.

As we bid farewell to PAPPY, we will deeply miss his anecdotes and the warmth he shared with everyone. Safe flight to heaven, Mr. Mazza! We know you’ll be regaling everyone up there with tales of the Spitfire and beyond. Your legacy will continue to inspire us all.

Some very sad news to share. Johnny Mazza Jr., the longtime owner of Medallion Pools in Colonial Heights, was killed in a UTV crash over the weekend. He was 73.

In addition to being a small business owner, Mazza had a passion for aviation, appearing on CBS 6 multiple times over the years. He was featured in an installment of "Wayne's World" in 2019.
