🌎✈️ Whew... have I been busy lately, and I couldn't be more thankful! ✈️🌎

Between helping clients plan Caribbean cruises, Alaska cruises, all-inclusive getaways in Punta Cana, and custom European adventures, it's been a fantastic year so far!

Today we celebrate the true meaning of Easter—the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the promise of hope, grace, and new life. It is a time to reflect on His sacrifice, His love, and the incredible gift of salvation.

May this day be a reminder that no matter the season we are in, there is always hope, renewal, and light ahead.

Best Western Premier - Miami

For our pre-cruise stay, we chose a Best Western in Miami primarily based on cost and ratings. Even on the more affordable end, it still came in at $322 for the night, so we were looking for ways to offset that with included amenities.

A couple of the reasons we selected this hotel were the complimentary airport shuttle and free breakfast, as those are always things we try to factor in when choosing accommodations.
Unfortunately, because our flight arrived later than expected (around 10:30 PM), we learned that the shuttle service actually stopped running at 10:00 PM. As a result, we had to take an Uber to the hotel, which added an unexpected $30 expense. Definitely something to double-check ahead of time if you’re arriving later in the evening.

The next morning, we headed down for breakfast expecting it to be included. We were given menus with pricing, which was a bit confusing. After asking, we were told we needed to obtain breakfast vouchers from the front desk. This wasn’t a major issue, but it would have been helpful if that process had been explained during check-in to avoid any confusion.

At the restaurant, we had two servers—one who spoke English and one who did not. There were a few small communication challenges (for example, asking for jelly and receiving butter instead), and when we were given our bill, we had to clarify that we had vouchers. Again, not a major issue, but it did require a bit of back-and-forth.

💡 Takeaway tips:
Always confirm shuttle hours—don’t assume they run 24/7

Ask about how “included” amenities (like breakfast) actually work
Small details can make a big difference in overall experience

Overall, the hotel served its purpose, but these are the types of little things that can impact your experience—and exactly why I like to share these insights to help you plan a smoother trip.

Okay, I’m back at it!

After David and I took a cruise over spring break, I decided I wanted to break down each part of our experience and share some insights, tips, and a few lessons learned along the way.

Frontier Airlines - this wasn’t new for us. We’ve flown Frontier several times, and honestly, we had zero issues with the airline itself. (Or TSA for that matter - no wait in CVG or MIA.)

What did become an issue was carry-on luggage.

Many travelers are trying to pack a week’s worth of clothes into oversized backpacks that simply don’t fit in the overhead bins.

Because of this, Frontier has started checking the size of both carry-ons and personal items before boarding. When bags don’t fit, it slows everything down—and unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened on our flight.

Boarding delays caused our plane to depart late, which then created a domino effect. We arrived at our destination around 10:30 PM, only to find out that the hotel shuttle I thought ran 24/7 actually stopped at 10:00 PM. As a result, we had to take an Uber to the hotel—an unexpected inconvenience and added expense.

💡 Takeaway tip:
If you’re trying to save money by avoiding a checked bag, it may not be worth the hassle—especially with Frontier. Their carry-on pricing is often very similar to a checked bag anyway.

👉 My recommendation:
Check your bag and enjoy the ease of traveling with just a personal item (which is still free). It makes the entire airport experience so much smoother.

What being a travel advisor has taught me about myself.

1) An old dog can learn new tricks!
2) I LOVE learning about new places
3) I'm pretty darn motivated.
4) I kinda do like people (it was questionable there for a while).
5) I cannot work when Theo is home. I thank God for K9 Country Club!
