🚧 Better Parking on the Horizon! ✈️🚗
Great news, airport family! We are continuously upgrading our facilities to improve your experience. To make room for these exciting improvements, we have a few temporary updates to our parking layout.

Here is how we're keeping your next trip smooth and safe:

Now – June 15: Some spaces will be coned off early so our crews can prepare safely.

June 15 – June 19: A portion of the FBO / General Aviation lot will be closed for construction. (Reminder: The main loop road closure from May 1st is still underway).

🅿️ Where to Park:
Temporary Parking: Please use the designated Green Areas on the airport grounds (14-day limit).

Handicap & Rental Cars: Unchanged! They remain in their usual sections along the outer loop road.

🗺️ Check the Map: See the attached aerial layout to easily spot the temporary green parking zones before you arrive!

Thank you for your patience as we invest in a better airport! Questions? Reach the FBO Desk at 315-786-6001

🛠️ 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 Happy Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day! ✈️

Today, we are taking a moment to honor the "unsung heroes" of the hangar—the mechanics who keep our planes safe, airworthy, and ready for departure. While you might see our aircraft soaring gracefully above the 1000 Islands, it is the hard work on the ground that makes every flight possible.

Mechanics are truly the lifeblood of aviation. Their precision, dedication, and expertise are what keep our industry moving and, most importantly, keep our passengers safely in the air.

At Watertown International Airport, we don't currently have a based maintenance business, but we are incredibly thankful for the skilled teams and A&Ps who have served our based and transient customers over the years, including:

LaValley Aviation

Giroux Aviation

LifeNet

Piedmont Airlines
..and every independent technician or aircraft experimental owner repairmen who has turned a wrench at ART the last 98 years!

📸

Whether it was 80 years ago or today, the mission remains the same: safety, excellence, and a passion for flight. To all our AMTs: thank you for your tireless work. Today, we recognize you.

TRAINING HIGHLIGHT: Partnering for Safety with Fort Drum's Newest Fleet 🚁

We were thrilled to host our neighbors from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade right here at Watertown International Airport earlier this week for critical aircraft familiarization training! 🙌

As Fort Drum upgraded its fleet to the advanced AH-64E "Echo" (Version 6) Apache, these state-of-the-art attack helicopters will be increasingly active, training in and out of our airport. Watertown International Airport is incredibly proud to work alongside and support the 10th CAB as they conduct these vital missions to ensure military readiness. 🇺🇸✨

Because this latest model brings a whole new generation of digital systems, flight configurations, and structural design changes compared to older Apache variants, our Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team underwent detailed, hands-on training to study the aircraft up close.

Our ARFF crews focused heavily on specialized rescue and safety protocols unique to the Echo variant, including:

Emergency Canopy Access and Extraction
System Layouts & Power Cut-offs
Hazard & Fluid Awareness

A huge thank you to the fantastic instructors and aircrews from the 10th CAB for sharing their expertise and providing our team with this invaluable training. We look forward to a continued, seamless partnership in keeping our skies, our soldiers, and our local community safe! 🧑‍🚒✈️

Happy National Tourism Day! ✈️🌍🇺🇸 🇨🇦

As the "front door" to our beautiful region, the Watertown International Airport takes great pride in welcoming travelers to the 1000 Islands. But we don't do it alone! Our success is fueled by our close relationship with Jefferson County’s official Tourism Promotion Agency: the 1000 Islands International Tourism Council. (Visit 1000 Islands)

Under the leadership of Director Corey Fram, this dedicated non-profit works tirelessly every day to market our incredible area to the world. Their mission is the heartbeat of our local economy—attracting new visitors, supporting local businesses, and ensuring the global recognition of our binational destination.

We want to give a massive shout-out to the team that makes it happen:

Betsy Hutchinson, for keeping the gears turning behind the scenes.

Jill Folsom, for her fantastic work in marketing and communications.

Claire Dunlap, for her expertise in projects and travel trade sales.

From the dedicated staff to their committed Board of Directors, this team is the reason through the years that our region continues to grow and thrive. We simply would not have the vibrant influx of visitors we enjoy today without their hard work and passion.

Next time you fly in or out of Watertown, remember that you’re stepping into a region supported by some of the best in the business. Thank you, 1000 Islands International Tourism Council, for being such incredible partners!

Leveling Up Our Maintenance Game! 🛠️ ✈️

The Watertown International Airport maintenance team completed a detailed preventive maintenance training session today on our Jetway® Passenger Boarding Bridge.

Manufactured by Oshkosh Aerotech, this equipment is essential for safe and efficient airport operations.

The session began with classroom instruction covering technical schematics, PLC controls, and troubleshooting procedures. The team also reviewed the mechanics of the rotunda, telescoping tunnels, cab, curtains, and auto-levelers, as well as the PC Air and ground power systems.

During the afternoon, the team performed hands-on maintenance, focusing on lubrication points and the inspection of drive chains and rollers. This training ensures a more reliable service for our passengers and the community by maintaining our facility to the highest standards.

Bridge Facts:
• Weight: The bridge weighs approximately 75,000 lbs.
• Construction: It consists of three telescoping tunnel sections.
• Versatility: The unit can accommodate a wide range of aircraft, from small regional jets to Airbus and Boeing narrow-body models.
• Range of Motion: The rotunda allows the bridge to rotate up to 175 degrees, enabling it to service two separate parking locations.

See photos of our team in training below.
