The unsung heroes of the runway project? Our maintenance team. Last month, before our primary runway could reopen the crew had to complete a comprehensive safety inspection, checking runway lighting, signage, markings, pavement conditions, safety areas and more. Only after everything met the required standards did they give the green light and reopen our primary runway. Join us in thanking them for their effort in the comments.

A massive congratulations to Lane from Black River Aviation for taking that epic first solo flight. There’s truly nothing quite like that feeling of shedding the instructor's weight, taking the controls solo, and realizing: "Hey, I'm actually flying this thing all by myself!" 😎

Awesome work, Lane! Keep climbing high, and enjoy every single second of that newfound freedom in the skies.

✈️ Runway 10-28 is officially REOPENED!

Thanks to the hard work of our contractor and airfield maintenance teams, the final safety inspection was completed this afternoon and Runway 10-28 is operational and open for traffic.

We appreciate the patience of our pilots, dispatchers, passengers, and community while we completed these essential upgrades to keep our facilities safe and efficient for years in the future.

As our summer season wraps up at Watertown International Airport, we want to extend a massive shoutout and heartfelt thank you to our two incredible summer interns, Chase Listemann and Charlotte Zinninger! ✈️💼

Over the past few months, they have been absolute powerhouses behind the scenes, diving headfirst into vital airport projects and contributing to our operations in meaningful ways.

Thank you both for your hard work and for leaving a lasting, positive mark on Watertown International Airport. We are so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and can't wait to see where your talents take you next!
