You may be wondering what exactly is a crosswind runway?

It’s a secondary runway designed to help aircraft safely take off and land when wind conditions change. Right now, it’s helping keep our airport operating while construction continues on the main runway. Safe to say the crosswind runway deserves a little appreciation post of its own.

CELEBRATING 14 YEARS OF SAVING LIVES! 🚁

Please join us in wishing a very Happy Anniversary to a truly special group at the Watertown International Airport: Life Net 7-10! 🎉🎉

Fourteen years ago—on June 12, 2012—this base officially opened its doors. Since that day, this incredible crews of flight nurses, paramedics, pilots, and mechanics has been working tirelessly, 24/7, directly saving lives in our community.

When minutes matter most, they are in the air, providing critical, top-tier emergency medical care to those in need. We are profoundly grateful and deeply proud to have them based at our airport. The service they have provided to Jefferson County and the surrounding areas for over a decade is nothing short of heroic.

Thank you, Life Net 7-10, for 14 years of bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to keeping us all safe. Here’s to many more! LifeNet of New York

🚧 Great News: GA Parking Available a Week Early! ✈️🚗

Airport family, we have fantastic news!

Thanks to the crew working ahead of schedule, some of our General Aviation parking upgrades are finishing early.

The area closest to the FBO entrance that was closed is now available a week sooner than expected. Please look at both diagrams to see the change!

Please keep these current parking updates in mind for a smooth trip:
Main Parking Lot: This remains closed while construction crews continue their work.
Open Areas: Look for the spaces marked in green on the diagram—these are fully open and available for parking!

Looking ahead, we have more improvements planned for the future that may require temporary parking changes, and we will keep you posted as those dates approach.

RUNWAY UPDATE #2

Why redo a runway? Just like highways, runways experience wear over time from weather, snow removal, and aircraft traffic. This project helps extend the life of the airfield and ensures safe operations for years to come. It’s a little headache now for a smooth operation very, very soon!

Welcome to Behind the Runway, our new series dedicated to keeping you informed about our main runway improvement project. Let's dig into it.

RUNWAY UPDATE #1

Yes, there’s construction happening, but planes are still flying.

Our main runway (10/28) is currently under construction through the summer. All aircraft are operating on our crosswind runway (7/25) while improvements are underway. It’s all part of a major investment to keep the airport safe, reliable, and ready for the future.

This Memorial Day, we honor those who served and sacrificed for our nation. We remember them with gratitude and respect.
