Some really, REALLY amazing things happening in The new bike park is coming along really nice and is going to bring and trail biking to communities in the city. I had a lot of fun test riding it and made a couple new friends. They didn’t seem to be used to adults riding and followed me around for a while. They were really sweet and seemed pretty concerned when I fell lol. Hit a gravelly berm a little too fast. Whoops! Thank goodness I was wearing a helmet because I definitely cracked my head on the ground.

One last day riding bikes, playing Baaga’adowe and eating burgers at the park with the buddies before school starts. Little guy just learned to ride and he’s keeping up with the big boys. They were so patient and sweet encouraging him and helping him learn. So proud of these kids.

It took a few tries, but I made a ball!

I still have a lot to learn about but these hickory sticks are coming out really nice. They are dense and have a nice heavy feel. And I think the dark wood looks really nice. So far I’ve had one bad bend. I realized too late that there was some knotting, but I decided to see if it would bend anyway. It didn’t. Now I know to be more selective in my wood pieces. 2/3 ain’t bad. Trying to do 1 a week.

Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who came out today. This was probably my favorite ride ever! And a HUGE thank you to REI cooperative action fund who enabled us to finally get a trailer!

Hanging out with Feedom Freedom Growers (FFG) doing safety checks and passing out helmets, lights and locks. Thank you so much to League of Michigan Bicyclists and Ted's Bike Shop for the lights and DALMAC for finding our helmet and lock giveaways this year. Just doing our part to help build a culture of in Detroit.

Summer is almost over but there is still time for some fun! We’re cleaning Higgins Park, playing with water blasters and learning how to play lacrosse. Come through for a final Friday evening of fun before school starts.
