SMART’s newest route, 500 Mound/Hamtramck, enters service on Labor Day (Monday, September 7th)! Buses will operate seven days a week between Larned & Griswold in downtown Detroit and the Bel Air Center on 8 Mile east of Van D**e via Midtown, New Center, Hamtramck, and Mound Road. Where will you be traveling on launch week?

Healthcare access doesn’t begin when a patient walks through the doctor’s door.
It begins with whether they can get there.
That point really stood out during our recent episode of SMARTcast with Dr. Paul Thomas of Plum Health
We often talk about access to quality healthcare in terms of doctors, insurance, affordability and availability. But transportation belongs in that conversation, too.
Because a medical appointment you can’t get to isn’t truly accessible.
Reliable public transit can be the connection between a person and their primary care physician. Their pharmacy. Preventative care. A follow-up appointment. The resources that allow them to live healthier, more independent lives.
That’s why we continue to believe that a bus is never JUST a bus.
