"Nature Made"
Stephanie Wharton

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
The theme for my poster this year was bringing the outdoors onto paper. I gathered and incorporated items you might encounter on a ride, aiming to capture the feeling and experience of being out on your bike.

Bio
I was always the kid filling my notebooks with drawings and doodles. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy doing something creative. Art class was easily my favorite. That passion eventually led me to a career in web and graphic design. Today, I work as a web designer and manager for a financial firm in Fairfield, Iowa. While creativity is a big part of who I am, my other passion is cycling. During riding season, you will usually find me out on one of my many bikes. I currently serve as a board member of the Jefferson County Trails Council in Fairfield and manage the SE Iowa Cyclist Facebook group. This is my 7th year participating as an artist in the PedalArt Poster Show.

"Neal Smith Trail"
Neil Ward

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
One of the most popular biking trails I can think of is the Neal Smith Trail. Starting in Des Moines and ending at Big Creek State Park, there are so many points of interest and landscapes to see along the way. My goal was to make a map that would highlight what makes this trail special.

Bio
Neil O. Ward is a Des Moines-based graphic design educator and silkscreen artist. He has taught at Drake University since 2014 and opened his silkscreen print studio, NOW Designs, in 2023 at Mainframe Studios in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. "Hybrid"
Zane Vredenburg

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
This poster was inspired by the shared language of hybrid design found in both bicycles and corn. Drawing from the visual style of vintage seed bag packaging, the design combines nostalgic agricultural imagery with the classic form of the bicycle to celebrate the relationship between cycling and the rural Iowa environment.

Bio
Zane Vredenburg is an artist, graphic designer, and high school art teacher and has years of experience with many forms of art. His work combines illustration, graphic design, and a playful creative style inspired by music, culture, and the simplicity of everyday life. He loves Iowa, his bike and creating posters about both!

"Pedal Glass Co."
Audrey Vander Schel

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
I had the idea to incorporate the theme of cycling in a stained glass motif since I’ve worked with stained glass art in the past. I also was inspired by vintage marketing posters so I decided to utilize a fictional glass company from Iowa to create a poster advertisement featuring the stained glass design while adding some Iowa specific details like the state bird and state flower.

Bio
I’m a hobby artist and have lived all over the state of Iowa, originally from Davenport and currently living in Huxley. I’ve worked with many different media and techniques such as stained glass and fabric arts, but lately have been exploring digital art and surface & pattern design. Some of my work is featured on my instagram, with links to purchase print on demand products featuring my designs.

"Autumn Pedals"
Barb Thompson

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
Enjoy all the fall colors while biking the Iowa trails. My eyes are always on the leaves in the autumn! Biking is a glorious break from reality and a way to connect with the natural beauty of Iowa.

Bio
Nice to meet you! I’m Barb Thompson - a Cedar Rapids artist who loves to study florals and vegetation. I am drawn to recreate these beauties and capture their brilliance. Working off of photographs and plants from my own garden, as well as bouquets I curate from local floral shops, I aim to capture the blooms and colors of the season for year round enjoyment. These creations are meant to lighten hearts and bring sunshine for days to come. The broad category of paint has always been my medium of choice. I have been drawn to representing florals in oil, acrylic, and plenty of watercolor compositions. Translating the beauty found around me into colorful moments of Iowa life is a joyful experience. Through still life compositions, I strive to capture botanic life as a reflection of emotional memories.

"Sir Lancelot Goes for a Ride"
Cassandra Tant

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
Inspired by medieval illuminated manuscripts and late 19th century illustration, this poster features Sir Lancelot taking a leisurely bike ride through the countryside. This work relates to the fantastical journey our minds can take when spending time pedaling outdoors - letting our imaginations roam with the passing scenery. Like a page taken out of a book, we are left to wonder where he started and what his next adventure will be. This poster is a linocut relief print made from a single block. It was drawn, carved, and printed by hand.

Bio
Cassandra Tant is a painter, printmaker, and naturalist based in Des Moines, Iowa. Her work celebrates first-hand observations of the natural world and explores the link between curiosity, recognition, appreciation, and conservation. She is inspired by what she can witness in parks, gardens, prairies, and forests, both locally and globally. In colourful works on paper and canvas, her artwork spans from an intimate view of a dime-sized fungus to a spanning landscape of hills and woodlands. Cassandra received a BA in studio art and french from the University of Northern Iowa, and a professional french master’s degree in international education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She works out of her studio at Mainframe Studios.

Inspiration
A playful tribute to Iowa cycling culture, this poster features a wild-eyed ear of corn racing a classic bicycle. Equal parts mascot, folk art, and Saturday morning cartoon chaos, the character leans into the ride with exaggerated movement, expressive detail, and a mischievous grin that gives the piece its playful personality.

With over two decades of experience in advertising and brand development, Sauer has built a portfolio that spans toy packaging, branding, and creative campaigns for clients ranging from independent makers to national brands. "Cykelby (Bike City)"
Jacob Rempfer

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
A print inspired by a recent trip to Copenhagen, the ultimate “bike city.” Over half the population of Copenhagen uses bikes as their primary means of transportation. The city’s infrastructure is created using a “bike first” mentality. One of my favorite sights was the Cirkelbroen (The Circle Bridge). A bike and pedestrian bridge along the main harbor. The bridge was designed to look like boats docked in the harbor as an homage to the rich seafaring history of Denmark. The bridge even moves to allow boats into the canals of the city. From an aerial view, it looks like the wheels of a bike in motion. Making this print allowed me relive the memories of my trip and commemorate the “bike first” culture of Copenhagen. The fun thing about this print is that the design works vertically and horizontally. Enjoy!

Bio
Hey! Jacob Rempfer here, I’m a graphic designer and I occasionally work under the name Green Line Design Co.If you’ve heard of Bozz Prints, I also work there as a designer and head of operations. After years and years in the restaurant and insurance industries, I went back to school for graphic design in 2013. In 2015, I graduated from DMACC and worked in sports apparel and product design before moving on to my current position. My wife Laura and I and our two dogs, Django and Benny, have called Des Moines home for the past 16 years. I have participated in several PedalArt and ArtCrank shows over the years and it is always a pleasure!

"BACKROADS"
Jack Randleman

Limited-edition prints available at Bike World (WDM) through May 31 with a portion of proceeds benefiting Street Collective.

Inspiration
I grew up in the country, surrounded by miles of gravel roads in every direction. At a young age I found a passion for gravel road riding and fell in love with the simplicity of gravel travel on old school road bikes. The serenity experienced while taking a short break on a sandbar, taking in the quiet of the countryside is a feeling that could never be replaced. I hope my work evokes a bit to nostalgia to the simpler times and the peace of riding in the countryside

Bio
I have been honored to have been a part of PedalArt for years now, my art normally featuring vintage 10 speed bikes such as my 84 Schwinn World. I took last year off due to a complete tear of my bicep tendon in my illustration arm. I strive to bring a nostalgic feeling of simpler times to my art and design work.
