A quick Diamond DA40 refresh.

We removed the old vinyl stripes, prepped and remasked the surface, then laid down one cross coat of white.

Two hours later, the paint was tack-free with no paint transfer.

Real aircraft painting—not every coat goes perfectly.

On the second coat, fisheyes appeared on top of the right pylon and along the right aft fuselage. Lubricants and grease used around the Citation’s tail section can sometimes work their way into the seams and affect the finish.

The crew kept the project moving. When we lay out the stripes, we’ll sand, clean, and properly repair those areas before continuing.

While Vic and I are in Germany checking out new spray guns, pressure pots, and equipment, the Flex Aero crew back home is still grinding.

Problems happen. Experience is knowing how to make it right.

The same hands that paint million-dollar private jets also polish supercars. ✈️🏎️

From System X® Ceramic Protection aviation training inside our hangar to Automechanika Frankfurt, we brought that same experience and attention to detail to the automotive world.

Me, vsattt_ , Steve Persia Todd Rutovich pushed the AMG GT 63 into the booth and got it ready for the show. 🇺🇸🇩🇪

The first phase of color is going down on this 414. ✈️🔴

After spraying the white basecoat, we moved the aircraft into Hangar A and began laying out the stripes.

Around every rivet and obstruction, we cut and press the masking tape tightly to prevent paint from blowing underneath. It’s a small detail that saves us from having to buff overspray later.

The first color is Sherwin-Williams Aerospace 200 Series Deep Red—and just look at how slick that finish turned out. 🔥

From bare aluminum to a finish this slick. ✈️

Jet Prep applied as a mist, one-hour wait, Sherwin-Williams epoxy primer, another two-hour wait, and finally one cross coat of Sherwin-Williams 200 Series.

Many of these seams arrived covered with body filler. After all the preparation and bodywork, everything is now straight, clean, and smooth.

The final coat only looks this good because of everything underneath it.

Moving an $11 million Gulfstream into a tight hangar leaves no room for mistakes.

We came in at 6:00 a.m. to reposition the aircraft and bring the GIV inside so we could finish the final detailing. The space is tight, the airplane is big, and everyone has a responsibility—wing walkers watching every clearance while I guide the tug operator.

No rushing. Clear communication, steady movement, and complete attention from the entire team.

We take our time and move it safely.

Aircraft painter life. 🎨✈️

Over the past 30+ years, I’ve sprayed more gallons of paint than I could ever count—different products, different colors and just about every type of aircraft imaginable.

The materials and technology may change, but one thing hasn’t: I still love picking up that spray gun and watching a finish come to life.

After all these years, the passion is still there.

The Citation is officially transitioning from bodywork into the priming and painting phase. ✈️

We spot-primed the completed repairs, sanded every area smooth, washed and chemically treated the bare aluminum, and replaced all the old masking with fresh protection for primer and paint.

From stripped and covered in paint chips to clean, sanded aluminum in only two days. 💪🏾✈️

After cleaning the hangar floor and pressure-washing the Citation, the crew went to work preparing every inch of the aluminum.

We’re almost ready for the final cleaning, conversion coating, and epoxy primer.

The transformation is moving fast—but the process never gets rushed.
