Mohawk Valley Firebirds Radio Control Modelers The Mohawk Valley Firebirds are an AMA chartered club located at Victor Field in Deerfield, NY. Check back often for upcoming events!

The Firebirds originated in the late 1960's and is an AMA chartered club located at Frankfort Highland Airport in the town of Frankfort just a few miles south east of Utica, NY. Our field is privately owned and full-scale traffic is minimal (and sometimes awesome!). We fly off of a 2800 X 30 foot paved runway with an optional 600 X 50 foot grass runway. In front of us is nothing but open field! We host several events through out the year. All AMA pilots are welcome to fly at all of them. We welcome their family and friends as well. And of course, the general public is always welcome to join the fun.

Three of our members are each scratch building Dornier Do-23 scale aircraft from 84” plans scaled up to 100”. This is the first one to make it out of the hangar. Great job and nice flying, Jim!

It looks like Mother Nature is calling an early end to our weekend. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Randy (our very supportive friend/landowner), Firebirds members, the pilots, family & friends, and the community for the support at the Fall Jet Hangout. Everything came together and exceeded our expectations in ways we never imagined making it an event that was successful beyond expression! Thanks for comments and suggestions to make future happenings even better! If you have anything to add, please reach out to Leo Poptarts Tuna, Jay Fitts, Tim Allen.

Randy V. (landowner) is taking very good care of us by improving the driveway. He plans to have it paved with asphalt millings by mid-day. (Don’t worry, he’ll move for you to come in/out)
I’ll be heading up in a few minutes to facilitate operations and pilot/guest concerns. The big tents should be going up today and we will be doing the last mow/sweeping before the event. Don’t let our chores keep you from coming up and enjoying flying and camaraderie. We might have some burgers and hot dogs on the grill later.

More folks will be trickling in for the weekend festivities today. As the Firebirds welcome our out-of-town jet jockeys, we will be continuing efforts to make the field perfect. We’ll be mowing/sweeping once the grass dries, and Randy (the landowner) will be doing work on the driveway, and pavilion. Use caution, but don’t let our maintenance deter you from flying, or just hanging out. Steve and I (Tim) will be up late morning-noonish.
Reminder: the jet event starts on Friday, so normal flying until then so come up and fly your helis, gassers, foamies, etc. The weather guessers say it’s looking damn good for flying today.
