(Part 5) 90% of all fiberglass boats are built with polyester resin, I typically use polyester resin on most repairs since that's what they are built with, but on flex areas I like to use vinyl for extra strength. Vinyl ester and polyester can chemically bond and bond just fine mechanically as well which we are going to be doing here. Just got a brand new pale in today just in time.

Part 4 I'm not sure where all the fractures came from in other areas but we did find massive air voids between the layers of glass from the factory this may have been the problem all along still not exactly sure, the fractures were deeper than the gel coat so that kinda eliminated that theory of the gel coat being to thick and if the stringer was loose and rattling I would think the fractures would have been all the way through from the inside and they were seriously just on the surface of the outer glass and buzzed right out. To all my smart older techs what are your thoughts?

(Part 1) follow to see if you can tell me what's really going on, For those who follow me, a year ago I repaired this area it had a total of 6 singular fractures we grinded out and glassed, 6 months later the customer called saying the rail fractured out where we repaired, I told the customer with all the extra fractures it has it can't be from us but I'd like to find out and to bring it in and I'll fix it for free. I would say some of you remember me talking about it a few months ago and me saying how I'm lost thinking maybe the gelcoat is too thick or the stringer may have come loose. Well today was the day to find out we have pretty much the whole rail grinded out to bare glass.
Stay tuned you're not going to believe what we are finding.

I'm not tech savvy to get everything in 1 video but this was the worst of the Caymas damage repair, she is slicker than glass and ready to hit the water! All this dark shiny flake I hear attracts the fish even more. 😉 Lol
