Adventure vs. Amusement

Although the occasional thrill of an amusement park can be fun…does it really produce the same bonding memories as an actual adventure?

Amusement is a closed loop. A rollercoaster has a beginning and end that you’ve seen before you ride it. Although there’s a thrill to the ride, you know exactly where it starts and ends before it happens.

Adventure is different. There is always something to conquer, a challenge to overcome, and skills to acquire along the way.

You may remember that you went on a roller coaster a few years later, but you will ALWAYS remember an adventure you had. Decades can roll by, and you can recount details, memories and emotions you experiences from an adventure.

THAT is exactly what we aim to provide at Ecco Family Charters.

We’ve all had one. A vacation where everyone runs in a different direction. The younger kids want this, the older ones want that. The parents want relaxation and a break. The whole week is run off of separate desires, and ultimately leads into time apart.

After the week is over, there may be some tan lines, but the family doesn’t feel connected. Equipped. Envisioned for the next season or school year as a family.

But….can a vacation actually look like that? A vacation that leaves a family envisioned and connected?

I believe so.

Sailing is so special in that it’s an activity that requires ALL people to participate. There’s a slight challenge to sailing, which provides that feeling of adventuring and conquering: essential to building connection and trust as a family.

Not only that, but throughout the week there’s so many opportunities to talk about what YOUR family values. How do we overcome challenges as a family? How do we handle a problem together? How can we have fun, laugh, and play…together?

Ecco Family Charters is a week that you are able to ask and answer those questions, while being in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

After a brief hiatus… welcome to Ecco Family Charters! We are so glad you’re here!

Sailing runs in the blood. Literally. Our charter Captain Phin (pictured above) started sailing with his father as a toddler. A few years after, their family decided to jump aboard full time and sail along the East Coast.

Now, over 20 years since that season, Phin is overjoyed to offer the experience he grew up loving to other families!

Special things about Ecco Family Charters:
- no experience required!
- All ages welcome, even babies & grandparents! Children will have an opportunity to engage in aged-based tasks and help as crew members.
- The family unit will stay together, not be fragmented during vacation
- Wholesome values instilled all week
- Plenty of time to adventure around the Bahamas
