We did an early Mother’s Day at Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village.
Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village in Sedona is a charming, Mexican-village-inspired complex known for its art galleries, unique boutiques, and restaurants, featuring cobblestone paths, fountains, and shade trees.
Construction of the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village in Sedona began in 1971 and was completed in 1978. It first opened to the public in 1973. Designed to look like a centuries-old village in Jalisco, Mexico, it was developed by Abe Miller to be a haven for artists, featuring cobblestone paths, vine-covered walls, arched entryways, and sycamore trees.
It offers a wide variety of Southwestern and eclectic art, jewelry, crafts, and home decor, alongside dining options from casual to fine cuisine, making it a popular destination for shopping and strolling.
There is a relaxed international vibe that we thoroughly enjoyed. We indulged in some Mexican food for lunch, had a chai latte and some Turkish coffee, and the kiddos got their first henna tattoos.
And if art galleries are your thing, Tlaquepaque is definitely worth a visit. There are galleries throughout the village but, essentially, the entire village is a gallery. The bronze statues used as part of the landscape are all for sale!
Side note: Today’s high temperature was 94° but Tlaquepaque is so well laid out, that there are shade spots everywhere and the heat is never unbearable.
