If you've been to River Bend Transit lately, you've probably noticed we're not just building a new bus storage facility... we're apparently filming the sequel to Construction Chaos: The Never-Ending Project.

We've had 24 hours with no water, an actual waterfall in the parking lot! While it was surprisingly beautiful, we're pretty sure that wasn't part of the construction plans, and
enough orange cones to start their own community. Every day seems to come with a new plot twist!

Through all the craziness, one thing has never changed—our incredible drivers and staff continue to show up with patience, flexibility, and a great sense of humor. They've navigated changing traffic patterns, parking shuffles, construction noise, unexpected obstacles, and enough surprises to last a lifetime.

We are beyond impressed with their positive attitudes and willingness to adapt, even when the inconvenience is real. Thank you for ROLLING with the punches.

The temporary chaos will be worth it when our new bus storage facility is complete. Until then, we'll keep embracing the adventure, enjoying our unexpected water features, and looking forward to the day we can say, "Remember when...?"

The gas pump has taken enough of our money this year. On June 18, we are celebrating Dump the Pump Day, which is the Olympics of not driving your car.
So, instead of battling traffic on Brady, dodging construction cones on Kimberly … hop on River Bend Transit and let someone else do the driving.

On May 21, 2026, River Bend Transit was honored to welcome Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Region 7 leadership for an on-site visit and tour of our Bus Storage Facility construction project.

We were pleased to host Carrie Butler, FTA Region 7 Administrator; Cindy Moses, Director of Operations & Program Management; and Hilda Mercedes, FTA Regulatory Reviewer and Program Manager.

The visit included a review of our nearly 45,000-square-foot Bus Storage Facility currently under construction in Davenport, Iowa. The project will provide indoor storage for revenue vehicles, helping protect public assets, extend vehicle life, reduce maintenance costs, and improve operational efficiency throughout our four-county service area.

During the visit, FTA representatives received an update on project funding, construction progress, (BABA) compliance, Davis-Bacon labor standards, project scheduling, and future facility improvements. The tour also highlighted the project's rooftop solar array, concrete paving improvements, and the significant role this investment will play in enhancing public transportation services across Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Counties.

The group toured the entire facility, including maintenance operations, administrative areas, and the active construction site. We were especially proud to showcase our maintenance department and the organization, cleanliness, and professionalism of our staff.

River Bend Transit appreciates the continued support and partnership of the Federal Transit Administration and the Iowa Department of Transportation as we work to improve transit infrastructure and provide safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services to the communities we serve.

After months of planning and preparation, we are excited to officially announce that construction has begun on our new 45,000-square-foot bus storage facility.
This project represents an important investment in the future of our operation and our drivers, and we are proud to see it moving forward.
We understand that construction will bring temporary changes and some inconvenience throughout the process. Our team is committed to doing everything possible to minimize disruptions and keep daily operations running smoothly.
To better support our drivers during construction, accommodations have been arranged to reduce the need for unnecessary travel inside the base whenever possible.

We appreciate the patience, flexibility, and professionalism of our drivers and staff as we work through this exciting next chapter together. We look forward to sharing updates as progress continues!
