We welcomed an unusual visitor today, necessitating a tailored fuel stop that differed from our standard airport services. A BETA Technologies CX-300 prototype all-electric airplane en route to Seattle, WA, made a brief stop. A truck traveling in tandem with the plane supplied a supplementary 2-hour charge, enabling it to continue its westward course. The CX-300 is designed for a pilot and 5 passengers with a cruise speed of 135 knots. This prototype has a 336 nm range. Very impressive and unique aircraft and certainly the first time Vermilion Regional has seen an all electric aircraft.

Rare sighting alert! Today we had the privilege of hosting a CH-54B Heavy Lifter at Midwest Aero for a fuel stop. This beast, built for the U.S.Army can lift an incredible 25,000 lbs of payload! Out of the 29 ever produced, only 7 remain airworthy-and this is one of them. Now serving in commercial heavy-lifting operations worldwide, it’s a unique legend in aviation.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this year’s Trunk or Treat a huge success! With 21 aircraft decked out in spooky decor, hundreds of costumed families, and so much incredible community support, it was truly a Halloween event for the books! ✈️👻

THANK YOU to our local pilots who showed up and made this event so memorable, especially the Vermilion County Flying Club! And a huge shout-out to our out-of-town pilots from Purdue School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Institute of Aviation at Parkland College, and Crosswinds Flying Club who flew in just for this event—we can’t wait to see you again next year! 🎃🚁

A massive thank you to Second Church of Christ for bringing so many wonderful volunteers, Bismarck Community Fire Protection District and the Vermilion County Illinois Sheriff's Department for their fantastic setup, and Country Store Health Foods for co-sponsoring the event, spearheading our Teal Pumpkin Project involvement, and providing all of the food!
