Tonight's sunset was absolutely beautiful.

Then I looked up and saw what looked like two garbage bags floating through the sky.

They weren't garbage bags.

They were Chinese sky lanterns.

A few minutes later, both of them came down into the Intracoastal Waterway. I was able to fish them out before they drifted away, but it made me wonder how many others end up in our waterways, wrapped around boat propellers, tangled in mangroves, or mistaken for food by wildlife.

They may look beautiful for a few minutes, but after the flame goes out, they become litter that someone else has to clean up.

Please, if you're thinking about releasing sky lanterns, consider a different way to celebrate.

Let's keep our waterways clean, protect our wildlife, and leave South Florida better than we found it.

🚤 Just another average day coming back from a Fort Lauderdale Sandbar trip...

One of the things I love most about being out on the water is that you never know what you're going to see. On the way back from today's trip, we crossed paths with the massive MAERSK FRANKFURT as she made her way through Port Everglades.

The coolest part? My guests were from the very same place this ship calls home. What are the odds? They got quite a kick out of seeing a little piece of home floating by in South Florida.

These unexpected moments are one of the reasons every trip is different. Dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, incredible yachts, cruise ships, and sometimes one of the largest cargo ships in the world.

Just another day on the water. 🌊

There’s just something magical about being on the water after dark.

The city lights reflecting across the Intracoastal Waterway, a warm breeze, great conversation, and friends enjoying an evening together…it’s one of my favorite times to be out on the water.

People often ask me what a Water Limo trip is like. The truth is, every trip is different because every group is different. Some celebrate birthdays, some enjoy a romantic evening, some are visiting South Florida for the first time, and others simply want to relax and take in the incredible views.

Now THIS is a friggin’ fishing boat.

This SeaVee has been put together like somebody checked every box on the ultimate fishing-machine wish list and then kept going.

A 400-horsepower Mercury outboard provides the muscle. The elevated second helm station gives the captain a better view for spotting fish, reading the water, and controlling the boat from above. The Simrad radar and electronics handle navigation and fish-finding, while the trolling motor with Spot-Lock can hold the boat precisely over a productive area without constantly drifting away.

Then you have the Power-Pole shallow-water anchors, multiple rod holders, a wide-open fishing deck, serious storage, livewell capacity, premium seating, and enough gadgets and controls to keep any dedicated angler occupied.

Everything appears to have a purpose. Power, visibility, control, electronics, storage, comfort, and plenty of room to fish without everybody getting tangled together.

This is not just a good-looking boat sitting at the dock. It is a carefully equipped SeaVee built to find fish, stay on fish, and make a long day on the water as productive and comfortable as possible.

While we were hanging out at Raccoon Island, this bold little fish crow decided my boat looked like the perfect place to stop for lunch.

He skipped the introductions and went straight to inspecting one of my guest's bags, apparently convinced there were chips inside with his name on them.

Sorry, buddy... around here the free ice and bottled water are for my paying guests. If you're looking for chips, you'll have to sweet-talk someone else. 😄

One of my favorite parts about being on the water is that every trip is different. Some days it's dolphins, some days it's manatees... and some days it's a fish crow trying to become the seventh passenger.

Some sunsets make the whole waterway stop for a minute.

This was one of those evenings where the sky, the clouds, and the water all lined up just right. The kind of sunset that looks good from land, but feels completely different when you are floating in the middle of it.

That is one of my favorite parts of running Water Limo. Every trip is different. Sometimes it is dolphins. Sometimes it is manatees. Sometimes it is birds in the mangroves. And sometimes it is just the water glowing orange while the whole sky puts on a show.

South Florida has a way of reminding you that you do not always need a big plan. Sometimes you just need to get on the boat, slow down, and look around.

Saw this on my way out to work today.

It is a jet boat built to look like a sports car—completely gimmicky, impossible to miss, and exactly the kind of thing you regularly see cruising around South Florida.

I see these fairly often, but a lot of people have never seen one before and assume it is some kind of amphibious car. It is not. It is simply a jet boat wearing a very loud sports-car costume.
