Jiko is easily one of my favorite dinners at Walt Disney World.

If you’ve never been, Jiko – The Cooking Place is a signature dining restaurant inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. The menu is inspired by African flavors, and it’s one of those restaurants where dinner really feels like part of the Disney experience.

A few of our favorites from Jiko:

The Giraffe Bread comes with your meal, and we look forward to it every time.

The Roasted Tomato Soup is one of my favorite starters, along with the Braai’d Wild Boar Tenderloin. If you’ve never tried the wild boar, this is the place to do it.

For entrées, we love the steak From the Oak Grill, but the Short Rib Isitambu is another one I would absolutely order again.

And Jiko is definitely a restaurant I would bring kids to. My kids love the Steak Sosatie, Pumbaa’s Dessert Grub, and getting to paint their own ostrich egg. It gives them something fun to do while we actually get to enjoy dinner too.

One of my favorite things about Jiko is the wine selection. They have an amazing collection of South African wines, and I definitely recommend asking your server for a suggestion if you’re not sure what to try.

If Jiko is on your Disney dining wish list, I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Disney dining reservations open up to 60 days in advance, and I wouldn’t wait until your trip to try to grab this one, especially if you have a specific night or time you want.

My other tip: give yourself extra time before or after dinner to explore Animal Kingdom Lodge and head outside to see the animals on the savanna. It makes the whole evening feel a little more special.

Jiko is absolutely worth leaving the parks for.

Save this one for your next Disney trip.

Two of my absolute favorites are coming together in 2027…

New York City + Disney Cruise Line. I mean… does it get much better?!

Disney Cruise Line is officially returning to New York in Fall 2027, and even better—the Disney Wish will be sailing from the Big Apple!

From NYC, Disney will offer:

Bermuda sailings — 4, 5, 6 & 8-night itineraries may be available, giving you the chance to experience Bermuda’s famous pink-sand beaches, beautiful water, and island atmosphere.

Canada & New England sailings — 5, 6 & 7-night itineraries with potential stops including Halifax, Nova Scotia; Saint John, New Brunswick; and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. One select sailing is also scheduled to visit Boston.

And can we talk about the opportunity to turn this into TWO vacations?

Spend a few days in NYC before your cruise. See the Statue of Liberty, catch a Broadway show, walk through Central Park, eat your way through the city… and then board the Disney Wish.

As someone who LOVES both Disney Cruise Line and New York City, these itineraries immediately went on my list.

Fall 2027 bookings open soon! Early booking begins August 31 for eligible Castaway Club members and select guests, with bookings opening to the general public September 8, 2026.

If a NYC + Disney Cruise vacation sounds like your kind of trip, this is one I would book EARLY. Send me a message and let’s start planning!

POV: you came to Epic Universe for the rides… but now you can’t stop thinking about the food.

One thing about Epic Universe? The food is part of the experience. Each world has its own flavors, themed restaurants, snacks, and drinks that make you want to plan your park day around what you’re eating next.

From Butterbeer and Wizarding World favorites to colorful Super Nintendo World treats, Viking-inspired bites in Isle of Berk, and some seriously good meals throughout Celestial Park - this is NOT a theme park where I’m settling for a basic burger and fries.

My biggest tip? Look at the menus before your trip. There are way too many things worth trying to leave your food choices until you’re already hungry.

Save this for your Epic Universe planning!

And if you want help figuring out where to eat, what to ride, and how to actually tackle Epic Universe without feeling overwhelmed, that’s exactly where having a travel advisor comes in.

Because yes, we’re here for the rides…but we’re also here for the snacks.

Save this list for your next Magic Kingdom day:

Cheeseburger Spring Rolls — crispy, cheesy, and absolutely worth the stop in Adventureland
Cinnamon Roll at Gaston’s Tavern — huge, warm, gooey, and perfect for sharing…or not
Bacon Skewer at Golden Oak Outpost — savory, smoky, and a great break from all the sweet snacks
Orange + Vanilla Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace — refreshing, creamy, and one of my favorites on a hot park day
Cheshire Cat Tail at Cheshire Café — flaky pastry + chocolate = an easy Fantasyland win
Dumbo Churro — grab one from the snack cart outside Storybook Circus for a sweet Fantasyland treat (not always available)

My Disney strategy will always include leaving room in the itinerary for snacks.

Which one are you grabbing first?

Save this for your next Magic Kingdom trip—and if you want help planning the whole Disney vacation (snacks included 😉), send me a message!

Sorry I missed your email… I was on a Disney Cruise.

Eating Mickey waffles with an ocean view, grabbing coffee before heading to the pool, checking the Navigator app approximately 47 times a day, getting ready for rotational dining, catching a Broadway-style show, ordering room service just because I could, and ending the night watching the ocean from the ship.

And yes, technically I was working. 😉 Because every Disney Cruise means trying the food, exploring the ship, experiencing the entertainment, and finding all those little details I can pass along to my clients.

It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do the research.

Ready for your own “sorry I missed your email” vacation? Let’s get your Disney Cruise on the calendar.
