Blackhawk Airport 87Y

It's been a long time since we've posted. That'll happen when you're grounded while waiting for engine repairs. Hopefully, we'll soon be back in the air. We've seen some visitors lately. Crop dusters have been around and are fun to watch take off and land. Blackhawk helicopters continue to make use of our little airport, and many other small aircraft have been stopping in for a break or practicing their take off and landing techniques. If you're planning on stopping in for a break, please note that there are no facilities here but there are some amenities that are an easy walk from the airport. Oakstone restaurant is literally off the end of the runway, there is a Kwik Trip the next block up on the right, and a Culver's on the left. And, if you haven't flown here before, please familiarize yourself with the runway patterns as to not annoy the locals and watch out for people mowing along the runway.

Another beautiful sunset on the way back from EFT to 87Y last night. Anyone going flying tonight? Be sure to stop in & say hi if you see my hangar door open

It seems spring has been delayed this year, and activity around 87Y has been light so far. I did get an opportunity to watch the sun set last night a few miles south of the field....this beauty just never gets old. Spring maintenance is starting, and we hope to have all the runway lights back in service later this week after a bit of a rough winter. Be sure to stop in and say hi if you are out flying this week. Don't forget to stamp your passport!
