It was a powerful reminder that even in one of East Africa’s busiest safari destinations, the quality of your guide can have a huge influence on the experience.

At Ishara Kenya, that meant respecting the animals, reading the situation, and knowing when it was better to move on rather than add pressure to a sighting.

A freshly brewed espresso while watching hippos in the Masai Mara? Yes please. ☕️

It was one of those small but memorable touches during Kyle and Leah’s stay at Ishara Kenya.

Enjoying a proper espresso beside the river, with hippos just below, was a wonderful example of how Ishara seems to push the experience that little bit further, both at the lodge and while out on safari.

Not a big moment. Just a beautifully considered one.

Something quite special. A sundowner with homemade pizzas in the Masai Mara, Kenya! 🍕🍷

Over the years, we’ve enjoyed some incredible drink stops on safari, and the teams behind our tailor-made journeys certainly know how to pull out all the stops.

But this one at Ishara Mara was particularly memorable. Homemade pizzas, sundowners, and the wide-open Masai Mara landscape stretching out around us.

Best of all, it felt completely private. No crowds. No rush. Just time to enjoy the setting and let the evening unfold.

Our next stop was Ishara Mara, where every detail is beautifully considered in the Masai Mara.

We had just one night at the exquisite Ishara Kenya , a lodge that has been on Kyle's bucket list to visit for a few years now.

Located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve, along the Talek River, what stood out most to Kyle and Leah was how seamlessly Ishara balances world-class safari experiences with opportunities to slow down and simply enjoy the property itself.

A private bush breakfast at Great Plains Mara Nyika in Kenya's Naboisho Conservancy.

This is one of the many experiences you can enjoy while staying in a private Mara conservancy. A chance to step away from the vehicle, enjoy the wilderness, and settle in for one of those breakfasts you end up talking about again and again.

Of course, the epic and rather fun Great Plains breakfast van adds another level of sophistication to the whole experience.

Inspired by National Geographic photographers and Great Plains founders Dereck and Beverly Joubert, guests are encouraged to try their hand at wildlife photography while out on game drive.

Naturally, co-founder Kyle Green jumped at the opportunity to learn and appreciate an art that so many people travel to Africa's wild spaces to enjoy.
