We are right in the middle of our busy season and we appreciate all the support. I am going to start something new here on the page called "Finding of the Week". Should be interesting, educational and hopefully give you all something to look for on your own boats.
Here is the first one:
Hoses! We see this at least a couple times a week. Though this pic has other issues going on, the focus is the hose. Please prior to launch check all your hoses for dry rot, and significant wear. This hose in the picture was already leaking as you can see by the rust stain. This would absolutely cause your boat to sink when attached to an open Seacock valve. Hoses should be replaced every 10 to 12 years regardless of the visual look of the hose. This looked like it was original to the 1998 Vessel it was attached too. Luckily this boat had not been launched yet for the year.
