Update from Allegiantt on their acquisition of Sun Country Airlines.

It’s official!

With all required approvals received, the transaction combining Allegiant and Sun Country has closed. This marks a major milestone and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in leisure travel.

Together, we'll create more opportunities for travelers, including expanded destinations, greater access to international travel, and enhanced rewards over time.

For now, though, nothing has changed. Both airlines will continue to operate independently while integration is underway, and our focus remains clear: maintaining the dependable, value-based travel experience passengers know today.

Welcome Race Fans to Concord, NC! As the closest airport to the Charlotte Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord-Padgett Regional Airport is preparing for increased traffic associated with the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race week activities throughout the Concord area.

Here is the weekend race schedule. Keep in mind that lots of fan activities occur around the area and at the track, so be prepared when coming to and from the airport.

Especially be aware if you are traveling on one of our airlines during the morning and early afternoon hours on Friday, May 22nd, you should be prepared for extra congestion getting in and out of the airport, as RFK Racing is holding its Fan Day at its headquarters adjacent to the airport, which usually draws a large number of visitors.

Saturday is the FAA's annual Drone Safety Day, dedicated to educating the drone community on the importance of safe and responsible drone operations.

There is a free local event at UNCC with the 2026 theme “Fly Right”, the workshop focuses on promoting awareness of drone safety—especially around critical infrastructure such as power lines and substations.
