Closing out the week with another internal look at the construction happening on our new terminal! This area here is part of the Central Market, which will house the majority of our shopping and dining options. That opening in the ceiling is intentional — it's where our skylight will go, flooding the space with natural light.

Ever wondered what the new terminal is going to look like? Here's a look from the air and from the inside.

The aerial shot shows the whole (almost) footprint: the new terminal building, the two-level roadway taking shape out front for arrivals and departures, and across the road, the new 5,000-space parking garage and rental car center that will connect to the terminal by a pedestrian bridge.

Moving inside, the second photo is taken from where the security checkpoint will be, looking into what will become the Central Market — the heart of the terminal, with concessions, seating, and a soaring skylight (that's the opening you can see in the roof). From there, the concourse branches off toward the gates, and the third photo shows one of them stretching out. The last shot gives you a sense of the scale and the work happening right now.

First look inside. 👀

Meet Tom McCarthy, our Chief Planning and Engineering Officer. He's been designing airport terminals for 35 years, and for the last four and a half, he's been pouring all of it into ours.

The structure is rising, and for the first time, you can really feel the scale of it.

The new terminal is built around a "central market" concept — one large, interactive space where passengers, concessionaires, and airlines all converge. It's fairly new to the industry, and Tom thinks it'll be the wow factor when you walk in.

We also heard you on what you love about flying CMH: easy to get to, easy to navigate, quick from car to gate. That's staying. Rental cars, the new 5,000-space garage, and the terminal are all together so you can still get from your car to your gate in minutes.

Even Tom — who's been looking at the renderings for years — said walking through it for the first time was something else.
