Things I do in my 40s to make travel more enjoyable that I definitely didn’t do in my 20s…
✔️ I skip Uber and Lyft and book private transfers instead.
Could I save a little money? Sure. But spending a bit extra for a guaranteed ride with a licensed, insured company means my vacation starts and ends stress-free. No wondering if a driver will cancel, no hunting for the right pickup spot after a long flight. Plus, many even greet you with bottled water when you arrive, which is a small touch that feels amazing after travel.
✔️ TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.
Standing in long security and customs lines isn’t how I want to spend my vacation. Paying a little upfront for these programs has saved me countless hours and made the airport experience so much smoother.
✔️ I pay for comfort when it matters.
Whether that’s a First Class seat, a Concierge-level room, or Butler Service at a resort, I love the convenience these upgrades provide. Priority check-in, assistance with reservations, dedicated service, and fewer things to worry about means I can focus on actually enjoying my vacation.
Am I rich? Nope.
But I do intentionally save a little extra before a trip so I can spend money on the things that reduce stress and maximize enjoyment. For me, a vacation isn’t just about getting there…it’s about enjoying the entire experience from start to finish.
