This week the Compco family and the Mahoning Valley celebrated as a portion of State Route 7/Market Street in Boardman was dedicated as the Clarence “Sonny” Smith, Jr. Memorial Highway.

The designation covers the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 7 between Washington Boulevard and Western Reserve Road.

Sonny helped found Compco Metal Products with his father in 1952 and spent his life building businesses, investing in people, and generously supporting the community he called home.

His impact can still be seen throughout the Valley—from Youngstown State University and Boardman Schools to youth athletics, local government and countless community causes.

We are incredibly proud to see his name permanently become part of the community he loved and served so well.

We were honored to be part of the dedication and grateful to everyone who helped make this recognition possible.

What a great evening in Columbiana!

Compco President Matt Werner had the opportunity to speak at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s Good Evening, Columbiana event last night. We were honored to be part of an evening that brought together local businesses, community leaders, and neighbors to celebrate all that’s happening in our community.

A special highlight was hearing the talented Columbiana High School Band perform! 🎶

Thank you to the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber for bringing our community together and allowing Compco to be part of such a wonderful evening. We’re proud to call Columbiana home!

For nearly 30 years, North Star BlueScope Steel and Compco have shared a relationship that has grown alongside both companies.

At North Star, we value the open communication and collaboration that have helped us work through challenges and find solutions together. It’s a relationship built on both sides showing up and working toward the same goal.

As we celebrate 30 years, we’re proud to recognize the customers who have been part of North Star’s history and the relationships that have grown along the way.
