Today’s call from Waterloo Police was a 2-car accident involving a Kia SUV and a Chevy Impala.

The Kia needed a redirected pull with a sn**ch block to keep it lined up correctly with the bed while loading, then we repositioned and towed the Impala on the wheel lift to finish clearing the roadway.

Calls like this are a good reminder that accident recovery is about more than just hooking up and driving away. Proper setup, keeping traffic moving safely, and working efficiently all matter when trying to reopen a roadway quickly.

This one turned into a true off-road snow recovery.

Customer slid off his narrow driveway and ended up stuck against a tree. With the snow and the hill, there was no way a tow truck was getting up there without becoming the next problem.

So we switched it up and brought the Jeep. Used a tree as an anchor, pulled the rear back onto the driveway, then repositioned to get it turned and lined up. Finished it off with a controlled pull up the hill.

Everything came out clean with no additional damage.

Got a call for a lowered Mustang and sent out the wrecker with dollies: The best setup for cars like this.

Took the time to do it right, and yes… no straps on the dollies.

Despite what the Facebook experts say, it rode perfectly fine 😂

Tow groups always say rollbacks aren’t meant for recovery work.

But at Quality Towing we send a rollback to almost every call first.

In this one, Josh is running his first solo recovery video and gets dispatched to a rolled box truck sitting in a farm field. With a little rigging he flips it back onto its wheels, winches it across the field to the road, then loads it up and tows it away.

As expected, everything went smooth.

So what do you think? Are we crazy for sending a rollback to something like this?

Waterloo PD called us out for something you don’t see every day... a Hyundai sitting ON TOP of a brick mailbox.

Both passenger side tires were hanging in the air when we arrived. Thankfully, it was a straightforward pick and swing with the MPL40 light duty wrecker.

It may have been freezing cold, but the job went smooth. The young driver was okay and that's what really matters.

Got a call for a vehicle stuck in the snow about 1/4 mile off the main road. Sounded like a full off-road recovery, so I rolled out with the Jeep and recovery gear ready to work.

Turned out it was just an unplowed road.

Hooked up a soft shackle and doubled kinetic rope, gave it one smooth pull, spun the car around, and the driver followed me right back to the pavement.

Nothing wild, just quick, safe, and professional. That’s how we like it.

This compact tractor rolled over in the woods, well off the roadway in snowy conditions.
We got it back on its wheels and safely recovered to the road.

🚨 WINTER STORM SERVICE NOTICE 🚨

With the upcoming winter storm expected to impact our area this weekend, we want to give everyone a heads-up on how our operations will look once road conditions begin to deteriorate.

❄️ When roads become unsafe, we will be limited to EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY, including:
• Traffic accidents
• Winch Outs
• Disabled vehicles blocking traffic or creating a safety hazard

🚫 During severe conditions, we will NOT be able to respond to:
• Non-emergency tows
• Tows to repair shops/ dealerships
• Long-distance tows

These services can still be scheduled and will resume once road conditions improve and it is safe for our drivers and the public.

🧊 WINTER DRIVING TIPS 🧊

Before heading out, take a few minutes to prepare:
✔️ Check tire tread and air pressure
✔️ Keep your gas tank at least half full
✔️ Carry an emergency kit (blanket, flashlight, gloves, phone charger)
✔️ Slow down and increase following distance
✔️ Avoid unnecessary travel when roads are icy or snow-covered

Your safety, and the safety of first responders comes first!

Illinois State Police called us out for a “Vehicle vs House” after a bucket truck lost its brakes coming down a steep hill. Passenger wheel buried deep in a drainage ditch, resting on the leaf spring, but with the right rigging and equipment, we got it out clean and safely.

First recovery of 2026 ✔️
A pickup ended up down in a creek at the bottom of a steep slope.
We got it back to the road and home safely.
