All-inclusive can mean very different things from one resort brand to another. So what is actually included when you book a Sandals vacation in Jamaica (or at any of their locations)

Your stay includes unlimited dining, snacks, premium liquors, wine and stocked in-room beverages. Round-trip airport transfers, resort taxes and gratuities are also included. Transfer Drivers and Personal butlers are the exception to Sandals' no-tipping policy.

You can also enjoy included land and water sports, snorkeling, entertainment, fitness centers and scuba diving for certified divers. At select Ocho Rios resorts, golf green fees and transportation to the course are included too.

What is not included? Spa treatments, off-property excursions, private candlelight dinners, photo packages and other optional upgrades generally cost extra. Flights are also separate unless a specific promotion says otherwise.

My job is to explain both sides before you book, so you understand what your vacation price covers and which optional extras are actually worth adding for you.

Is Butler service at Sandals worth the upgrade? My honest answer is that it depends on how you like to vacation.

A Sandals butler can handle dinner reservations, arrange tours and spa appointments, reserve your preferred beach or pool spot, bring lunch and drinks to you and help personalize your suite. You also reach out to your Butler whenever you need something.

Butler service can be especially valuable if you want to spend your vacation relaxing instead of thinking about logistics. It is also wonderful for honeymoons, anniversaries and couples who appreciate thoughtful surprises and personalized attention.

But it is not necessary for everyone. If you prefer to be out exploring all day, do not care where you sit at the pool and would rather use the difference in price for extra nights or excursions, Club Level may be the better value.

At Sandals Royal Plantation, there is no decision to make because every suite includes Butler Elite service. At other Sandals resorts, I look at both the room itself and the service level to decide whether the upgrade makes sense for you.

That is part of matching you with the right Sandals vacation, not simply the most expensive room.

One Sandals benefit that does not get talked about enough is its partnership with Island Routes.

Adding an excursion to your vacation feels much more seamless when you can book through a company that works directly with Sandals. Your pickup information is coordinated with the resort, and there is an Island Routes desk right on the property if you have questions or need assistance during your stay.

I recommend booking excursions before you travel, especially if there is something you really want to experience. Popular catamaran cruises, waterfall adventures and smaller tours can fill up.

Jamaica is also a large island, so not every excursion makes sense from every Sandals resort. I am always happy to recommend the best options based on where you are staying, how much travel time is involved and the kind of experience you want.

Your vacation should feel easy from the resort to the adventure and back again!

I am switching gears from Jamaica for a few days because I am so excited to be heading back aboard Disney Wish! 🚢✨

I will be sailing with my Favorite Day Adventures agency for a three-night cruise with stops in Nassau and Disney Castaway Cay, with a Cabana reservation at Castaway Cay!

I sailed Disney Wish 4 years ago, but every cruise gives me something new to notice. And, I will be paying attention to what has changed, what still stands out and the details that can make a short Disney cruise feel extra special.

What could a day at Sandals Dunn's River actually look like?

Start with Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee from BLŪM, then choose between the beach, one of the main pools or the river-style pools that flow through the resort. Stop for jerk and a cold Red Stripe at lunch, or spend the afternoon trying one of the included water sports.

By evening, you have 12 restaurants to choose from, including Greek, Asian, Latin American and Caribbean flavors. After dinner, head to Dunn's Rum Club for craft cocktails, small bites, pool and Jamaican-style dominoes.

If you really want to splurge, the Coyaba Sky Rondoval Villas take the experience to another level with rooftop spaces designed for stargazing. There are also SkyPool Suites with elevated infinity pools overlooking the ocean.

This is why Sandals Dunn's River remains one of my favorites. It works for couples who want beautiful design and romance, but still want their resort to have energy from morning through evening.

Sandals Royal Plantation is proof that small does not have to mean boring. It just means the energy feels different. 💙

This is an intimate, all-Butler resort where every suite has an ocean view and Butler Elite service is included. The pace is polished and personal, with quiet cove beaches, afternoon tea, beautiful terraces and plenty of space to actually relax.

This is not the Sandals I would choose for someone who wants to dance until the middle of the night. Evenings are more likely to end with piano music, cocktails and lively conversations at the Wobbly Peacock pub. It is social without feeling like a party resort.

I also think Royal Plantation is easy to enjoy for a full week. You have five restaurants at the resort, but you can also visit Sandals Ochi and Sandals Dunn's River for even more dining, entertainment and a change of scenery. Then you can come home to the quieter atmosphere and personalized service at Royal Plantation.

This is one of my favorite matches for couples who want a smaller resort, true Butler service and sophisticated evenings that are still friendly and fun.
