We will be announcing our 2028 travel opportunities and giving families all the details on Tuesday, Sept 8, 6:00 in the CHS Community Room! The CHS International Travel Club will be offering 2 opportunities this year for all current CHS students in the classes of 2027-2030, as well as parents, faculty, and staff to travel the world and gain invaluable experiences and educational opportunities through travel. We will be holding an informational meeting to learn more about these opportunities on Thursday, August 20, 6:00 in the CHS Community Room. We are home! We survived 2 typhoons, 2 earthquakes, multiple lost and found wallets, and a Welcome Home Capybara! And we had an amazing experience in Japan!!! This was our largest group to travel so far, and they are truly amazing young people!!!

We finished our last day with another Shinto Shrine, Nara Park with their beautiful deer, and then the Big Buddha Temple. (Kasuga-shrine and Todaiji temple)John and I posed in front of a replica of the Buddha’s hands for size referencing. It’s hard to believe we are coming home tomorrow. We started our last day touring Osaka Castle, which was built by a Sh**un who united the country after working his way up from being a Sandal holder for an important warrior. We learned the importance of doing a little bit more than what you are asked if you want to get ahead, because all he did to start his climb to ruler was warm his master’s sandals inside his kimono on a cold winter day. We have had another amazing day. Today was spent in Kyoto, and the rain finally broke. First we went to the bamboo forest, which was lovely and so relaxing. Bamboo grows up to 3 feet each day!!! Then we walked across the lucky bridge and made our wishes before we got a 10:00 am ice cream. Golden temple/pavilion, which was built by the Sh**un to show they were more powerful than the emperor. Then we had Lunch at Bivi Nijo, and John and I had some amazing sushi. And Megan and Ashly found a Tomogachi in the mall! We finished our day at the Fushimi inari shrine, the home of the 10,000 gates. Collierville High School

We had a great day today!!! We started with a drive into the mountains. We stopped for a bathroom break with a conbini (convenience store) and multiple food stands. Got ice cream with fresh blueberries and peaches
⁠we then visited the Wind cave which is made of lava, so there are no echos. Then we went on a Lakeside drive Sojing Ko and stopped for a photo stop where I took photos of all the students and their photo shoots. We then visited the cutest little village (including a traditional lunch of Udon Noodles at a lowered table) Iyashi no sato(old houses village). If Mt. Fuji were visible, we should have seen it here. It was not.
We then took the bullet train to Osaka, and finally did get some views of Mt. Fuji, which thrilled us all. Overall, it was a great day.
