We flew kites on a beach in Pacific City today. I've NEVER done that before. We bought our kites on Amazon and Angie's turned out to be kind of a dud, but still so much fun! We worked part of the day and it turned out to be too windy for biking so it turned into kind of a mellow day which felt GREAT!

We left Seaside yesterday, but got a bit of a late start. That gentle mist i mentioned the night before turned into a pretty steady rain all night. The Smittybilt held up great and we stayed dry and comfortable. We were hoping to camp around Cape Lookout or a couple other places. Turns out there are not a lot of places to camp because of the fires earlier this year. Most of the BLM areas have been closed. So we got a hotel for the night. Angie did some laundry at an actual laundromat which is a change from me washing clothes in rivers like a pioneer! We rode bikes today, visited several little sea side towns, and the Blue Heron cheese factory in Tillamook. Beautiful places along the 101, breathtaking every minute. Tomorrow the Tillamook creamery, the Air Museum and a couple of other historical places around town. Lots of bike riding schefuled for tomorrow. Bike batteries charging now!

Spent the day yesterday with our good friends who took us on a ferry to Vashon Island. We were SO spoiled staying at their house where they cooked amazing food, had fabulous conversation and treated us like queens! We had intended to see them long enough for dinner and ended up staying for 3 days! We left their home in Tacoma around 5:00 yesterday and made our way to Astoria where we'll spend the next couple of days. Today is mostly a work day, so maybe not a lot of site seeing until tomorrow, but we're in no rush!

We've been in Washington for a few days visiting with some friends who invited us to come stay at their house, nestled in Tacoma. We've been to Spokane, Gig Harbour, Seattle Pride, walked thru a forest that opens up onto a beach at Puget Sound,, and so much more! The last picture is just before sunset from the back deck of their house - beautiful! On the way between Spokane and Seattle, we found a place called Wayoutwest with some of the best metal art ever!! We stopped and looked around, bought a couple of things and talked to the manager of the place. It is a HUGE property filled to the brim with pieces that have been hand crafted. Today we are taking a ferry ride across Puget Sound, then heading back out because the road is calling us!

OMG - COUER D'ALENE - we must move here immediately! We are staying at Camp Couer D'Alene tonight. Spent the day in town bike riding around the lake, riding a great carousel, stopping for a drink at a seaside bar and walking the streets. Just fabulous!

Downtown Lewiston, Idaho yesterday was DARLING! Met up with Tina Hartford, Angie's longtime friend. The library is my favorite building in every town, and this one didn't disappoint! Debbie Reynolds, we went to your sister's place, but we missed her! 😪 Loved this place!

This place was our little home away from home last night. Cute story that you can read here if you're interested. https://www.flamingomotelidaho.com/ Darling, tiny themed rooms and we were in one of the Tuscan rooms. Great place to catch up on email and real world stuff! Off now to discover Couer d'Alene.

Here is a sound bite of the wind. Doesn't sound quite as terrifying as it was in real life, but you'll get the idea!

Wow, talk about an adventure! We drove from Boise to Lewiston, which is less than 250 miles. Took us 8 hours because of construction. But, we ended up camping near Nasqually John Landing on the Snake River, on Wawawai Road in Washington. Just barely time to set up camp before it got dark. Around 10:30, two men in a truck pulled up, stopped and turned off their truck. We thought we were possibly in a not so good situation. Turns out they we were placing fishing traps! Then the wind started up. It was probably not 200 MPH, but in a roof top tent it felt that way. It was so strong that the bottom half of the tent and ladder were picked up and I could barely get it back down as Angie was outside battening down the hatches! Then the was a VERY long and VERY fast train that sounded as if it were coming off the tracks. It shook the whole car! This morning, the Smittybilt had weathered the wind storm and all was calm and beautiful. We also spotted a cruise ship just passing by the camp spot. We did laundry in the river, hung it out to dry on some barbed wire and then hit the road again by noon. Today we'll spend time in Lewiston, Idaho with a long time friend of Angie's. Pretty eventful 24 hours! Smittybilt Jeep
