What does a dolphin’s life in the Indian River Lagoon look like? 🐬
It begins tail-first. Bottlenose dolphin calves are born this way so they can reach the surface and take their first breath. They stay close to their mothers for years, learning the lagoon’s channels, fishing spots, and rhythms along the way.
Some resident dolphins can live for 40+ years. That means the dolphins guests see today may have been born in these same waters decades ago: and may belong to multi-generational families that pass local knowledge from one generation to the next.
On a Cruise Cocoa eco-tour, our knowledgeable captains bring these stories to life with interpretive commentary about local wildlife and the history of the Indian River Lagoon and Intracoastal Waterway. It’s more than sightseeing: it’s a chance to better understand and appreciate this remarkable ecosystem.
Spring through early fall is a favorable time for relaxed dolphin and wildlife viewing. Ready to learn more on the water? Use promo code LABORDAY25 when booking your next Cruise Cocoa adventure.
