The new Aviation Education Building at the Clinton Municipal Airport is coming together. This project represents a major investment in the future of our community.

This new facility will create opportunities for students to learn aviation maintenance right here in Clinton through a partnership with NorthArk and Clinton High School. Once completed, the building will include classroom space and hands-on training opportunities using real aircraft at the airport.

For students interested in a high-demand, high-paying career field, this program offers a real path forward.

NOW HIRING:
The Clinton Airport Commission is seeking a dependable and organized individual to serve as Airport Secretary. This part-time position provides administrative and financial support to the commission and works closely with airport management to maintain accurate records, financial documentation, and communications necessary for the effective operation of the municipal airport.

Salary: $500 – $1,000 per month (depending on qualifications and experience)
Estimated Hours: 10–20 hours per month
Application Period: March 9 – March 19

We’re happy to share that Clinton Municipal Airport has received another grant from the Arkansas Division of Aeronautics. This funding will go toward improving our hangars and enhancing airport security fencing. We appreciate the continued support that helps us maintain a safe and reliable space for our local aviation community.

If you’ve ever visited the Clinton Airport you might’ve noticed the name: Jim Burnett Memorial Terminal.

Jim Burnett was born and raised here in Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School, became a lawyer, and served this community as a judge. But his impact went far beyond Van Buren County.

Appointed by President Ronald Reagan, Jim served as Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, where he spent 10 years leading efforts that made aviation and other forms of transportation safer across the country. From raising the national drinking age to pushing for life-saving aviation safety systems.
Even with all his national recognition, Jim never forgot where he came from. He practiced law here at home, served on local boards, and helped oversee this airport as chairman of the Clinton Airport Commission.

The terminal carries his name not just because of his accomplishments — but because of his heart for this community. We remember him not only as a national leader, but as a neighbor and friend.

We’re excited to share that our new taxiway is officially complete! This is a major step toward expanding our facilities, including the future addition of aircraft hangars.

Improving connectivity at the airport positions us for future growth and development—opening the door to new opportunities and long-term progress.

Thanks to a recently awarded grant, we’ll soon begin important improvements that will support our aviation training program partnership with Clinton High School and North Arkansas College by outfitting the classroom and updating our facilities. This investment will help create a great environment for students to learn and grow in aviation.

We’re proud to partner with Dawson Aircraft, North Arkansas College, the City of Clinton, and local high schools to launch an exciting new aviation program right here in our community. Starting this next school year, high school seniors can enroll in a hands-on aviation course held at the airport — earning college credit and a certificate of proficiency in aircraft maintenance through Northark.

The program is open to students in Clinton and surrounding districts. Families outside the district should note the school choice deadline: May 1.

This is an amazing opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in the aviation industry, explore career paths, and get a head start on college. We’re excited to see the next generation of aviation professionals take flight!
