AvFab Recognizes Todd Pogue for 30 Years of Service!
When Todd Pogue joined AvFab in 1996, there were just 5 employees. The business was transitioning from a stock house of used OEM interior parts to a manufacturing and repair facility addressing known problems in the industry. What AvFab needed was someone who could carry the load of design, drafting, and diplomacy with the Federal Aviation Administration to bring solutions to the market.
As one might expect, the engineering and safety requirements in aviation are robust. Take for instance, a seat, which AvFab decided to make a major line of their manufacturing business. For a seat to be approved for an aircraft, it must be able to withstand a force of 9Gs. That is a force of 9 times your body weight. Most of us common folk pass out in the 4 to 6 G range. The point is, the requirements are extreme (as they should be).
Todd came into a role without a blueprint. Nobody was around to show him the ropes. He just put his head down and went to work. 30 years later, AvFab has 92 unique aircraft interior parts that are approved and flying across 6 continents. In fact, every 5 seconds an aircraft takes off with an AvFab part on board. Who was the person running point with the Federal Aviation Administration and leading design and drafting efforts at AvFab through all of it? Todd Pogue.
For 30 years, Todd has been a lynchpin to the success of so much of what’s happened at 805 N. 4th Street. Whether he’s working on a solution for the United States Military or sending emails and having phone conversations with aviation officials from India to France (his two favorite countries to deal with), Todd makes it possible for AvFab to support the global aviation community, and for all of us at AvFab to keep building and fixing problems.
