Due to a recent and tragic structural fire, the railroad bridge over Fish Eating Creek, between Clewiston and Lake Placid, has sustained significant damage.

Our team is already working with professional bridge contractors to rebuild the structure as quickly and safely as possible, but it will not be ready in time for the April 25 Lake Placid Limited.

As a result, this trip has been canceled. All ticket holders will receive automatic refunds over the coming days. This is the only event in the remaining season affected.

To provide another opportunity to ride, we’ve added a new Lake Placid Limited on Saturday, May 30, to conclude our spring season!

🎟️ Visit www.sugarexpress.com for updates and booking details.

We appreciate your patience, and we look forward to welcoming you back aboard soon!

We’d like to thank the intrepid guests who joined us for two unforgettable days behind No. 148 this past weekend, roaming the South Central Florida Express mainline for a special 1960s-themed photo charter rooted in the locomotive’s original U.S. Sugar career. From first light to magic hour, our crews recreated scenes that echoed the waning days of steam in the Glades communities. This was our most geographically diverse group yet, with photographers joining us from Switzerland, Germany, and across the United States, with one guest remarking that the weekend was "therapeutic." It's an incredible amount of work, but worth it to share the culture and heritage of our region.

We're proud to announce that our Pullman car "Clewiston" has officially entered service and that it is available for group charters aboard our Lake Placid Limited trips!

Built in April 1911 by Pullman Company, Car No. 7505 began its life on the Pennsylvania Railroad as a rolling office suite for the railroad’s top executives. In those days, managers crisscrossed the system in style, riding from division points to big-city terminals in their own traveling headquarters,

From 1929 to 1960, the car steadily worked its way down the management ladder, from general managers to superintendents to local area bosses, until finally landing in Maintenance-of-Way service, After clocking out service on the Pennsylvania in 1960, the car eventually found new life in private hands, lovingly restored by James H. Clement, son of Pennsylvania Railroad president Martin Clement, before being donated to the Galveston Railroad Museum.

Today, this well-traveled veteran pays tribute to the town that made U.S. Sugar possible. After more than a century on the rails, it’s ready for company with a recently completed interior renovation. This car seats approximately 15 guests and features solarium lounge seating, a dining room, and private suites.

To celebrate the new year, we're headed back to the 1950s! This past weekend, our crews tested a potential night photo location for our Steam Railroading Photographers Special on January 17th and 18th. We've just opened up a few more slots, so join us for two days of late-steam-era action with No. 148 backdated to its United States Sugar Corporation livery, pulling both freight and passenger trains for photographers and videographers from around the world!
