Black is by far one of our favorite colors on any vehicle! Say hello to the Honda Aircraft Company HA-420 HondaJet.

The Honda Aircraft Company is a relative newcomer to the world of aviation, with its genesis happening in the late 1980’s. What started out as a small group of four researchers within Honda Motor Company’s R&D division has resulted in a groundbreaking aircraft that as won several aeronautic design and innovation accolades.

The HondaJet is considered to be a “Very Light Jet”. It utilizes a composite fuselage and an aluminum wing to carry up to seven to eight passengers nearly 1,400 nautical miles. The most recognizable feature of the HondaJet are the two GE-Honda HF120 turbofan engines that are unusually mounted on pylons above the wing. With a maximum takeoff weight just over 10,000 pounds, the aircraft can cruise at approximately 420 knots and is capable of altitudes up to 43,000 feet.

The aircraft are built in a factory in Greensboro, NC, where the first production example was completed in 2015. As of January 2022, over 200 aircraft have been delivered to various customers. This particular model, a HondaJet Elite II, features improved aerodynamics & avionics, increased fuel capacity, and revolutionary capabilities (over the original). The cost? Nearly $7 million.
