With its proximity to downtown Cleveland and complete aircraft support services, Burke is the preferred airport for our corporate customers and visitors to our region. Operated by the City of Cleveland’s Department of Port Control, Burke is a FAR Part 139 Airport. As the official reliever airport for Cleveland Hopkins International, Burke is critical to the safety and efficiency of the local, regi

onal, and national air transportation systems. However, the majority of Burke’s air traffic is made up of privately owned and charter aircraft used for business purposes—along with flight training, leisure flying, and military operations among others. As a high-capacity, well-maintained, accessible airport, Burke has built a reputation for excellence and remains a vital part of the region’s current and future economic growth and vitality. The facility has two runways, one 6198 feet and the other 5198 feet. Landing rates (2012) are $5 for a single-engine aircraft, $8 for a multi-engine, $10 for airport with a gross landing weight of 10,000 to 12,500 pounds, and $1 per 1000 pounds for planes heavier than that. Burke's FAA Air Traffic Control Tower is open 24 hours a day Monday through Friday and from 7am to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Parking:

Burke Lakefront Airport has parking for 660 vehicles. Rates are $6 per day. The International Women's Air and Space Museum (IWASM) is located inside the lobby and west wing of Burke Lakefront Airport. The museum celebrates the contribution of women in air and space flight with a rotating schedule of temporary exhibits. The museum is open seven days a week and admission is free.

Thanks to the above and beyond efforts of Tony Campofredano, Airport Manager at Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL), the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) building is much more comfortable for the hard-working men and women who operate at BKL. The facility they are in used to be combined with Maintenance, but after they were moved from the building, Tony made some much needed adjustments, doing a lot of the work himself. ARFF staff work 24-hour shifts, so kitchen, showering and sleeping accommodations are important. Previously, there was no privacy in the restrooms and showers, but with an increase in women on the force, it became important to make individual showers and restrooms. Also, there was only an office and a kitchen, and staff had to sleep in those areas. Tony sectioned off 3 sleeping quarters so staff can sleep comfortably. Improvements were also made in the kitchen and lounge area to make sure the men and women of ARFF are comfortable as they work through their long shifts. Thank you to the men and women keeping us safe at both BKL and CLE, and to Tony for helping make their long work days better.
