We would like to thank and congratulate Zach Hoekstra on his 15th year at Thein Structural Moving!
Zach has been such an important part of our 130+ year old business! Every day he comes with a great attitude and work ethic to get things done.
Little story about Zach…
15 years ago Zach returned from a deployment to Iraq. After being home a few weeks, his mom asked Jim Thein if we had any work for him.
Long story short, yes we do and pack a bag for a week, he will be on the road.
Zach came Monday morning with a bag of clothes.
My first impression of 6’1” -140 lbs Zach was, “He’s not going to last his first paycheck.”
Anyway, we were working on a brick and frame house with a large brick fireplace in the middle of the home. There is no better way to test someone’s grit, than to give them a sledgehammer and pound holes in a solid fireplace for beam placement.
At noon he came out. Didn’t say much. Said it was going ok. At 3pm he came out and i asked if he wanted a water. He said “No but do you have any gloves?” His hands were completely blistered from swinging the sledge. Didnt complain, just asked for gloves.
Needless to say, my opinion of Zach changed. He was tuff as nails and he had grit of a house mover.
Thank you for the hundreds of moves you have been a part of since that day!
….Zach always smiles when he hands the new guy a sledgehammer…
