This is the historic log cabin we moved in a previous post about a year ago.
It was determined the bottom 6” of log was rotting and in poor shape.
We came back today, elevated the cabin and cut the rotten logs out. We installed a treated plate on the new cut line and lowered it back down.

With road restrictions in place, using the roadway wasn’t an option.
So we moved this 60x104 post frame building across a field about 1/3 mile.

Yesterday we moved this cute little two story house to a lake lot in southwest MN. A breezy but nice sunny day.

Today it’s a near zero visibility blizzard with 45+ mph winds. 🥶
What happened to our 60 degree days??🫥

Today we moved a switch engine out of the factory for the US Air Force. Got it set on the tracks just before the rain came.
At least it wasn’t snow yet! 😎

We moved this 54x120 post frame building. The property is being developed and the building needed to be removed. Moving a building this large can have its challenges going any distance...
Fortunately it only went about a 1/2 mile. 😅

Today we loaded the former Vacuum Center and Klocow Insurance office building in Marshall MN. It’s a cozy office building with big windows bringing in a ton of natural light.
It will be remodeled and continue to be used as an office building in Willmar, MN.

Be sure to check out our website www.theinmoving.com “For Sale” page for more buildings coming up to be moved.
You can also sign up for our news letter. This sends you an email as soon as we get a new house, garage, shop or even an office building!

Yesterday we moved this 45x60 house about 1 mile. The recent rains brought the water table to within 12” of the township road top. Steel plate and extra axles got us through the low ground and to our final destination. The house is now ready for its new foundation at the new site.

This week we jacked a 100’+ radio tower. Over the years, one side of the foundation had settled about 3” and the insulators under the legs failed. We jacked the tower and leveled it. New legs were installed and our beams were removed. It’s like balancing a pencil on your finger.

We would like to thank and congratulate Zach Hoekstra on his 15th year at Thein Structural Moving!
Zach has been such an important part of our 130+ year old business! Every day he comes with a great attitude and work ethic to get things done.

Little story about Zach…
15 years ago Zach returned from a deployment to Iraq. After being home a few weeks, his mom asked Jim Thein if we had any work for him.
Long story short, yes we do and pack a bag for a week, he will be on the road.
Zach came Monday morning with a bag of clothes.
My first impression of 6’1” -140 lbs Zach was, “He’s not going to last his first paycheck.”
Anyway, we were working on a brick and frame house with a large brick fireplace in the middle of the home. There is no better way to test someone’s grit, than to give them a sledgehammer and pound holes in a solid fireplace for beam placement.
At noon he came out. Didn’t say much. Said it was going ok. At 3pm he came out and i asked if he wanted a water. He said “No but do you have any gloves?” His hands were completely blistered from swinging the sledge. Didnt complain, just asked for gloves.
Needless to say, my opinion of Zach changed. He was tuff as nails and he had grit of a house mover.
Thank you for the hundreds of moves you have been a part of since that day!

….Zach always smiles when he hands the new guy a sledgehammer…

This spring we moved a 60x130 pole building. To get it to the final destination, we had to move the building in two separate pieces due to a tight corner.
Once it arrived to the new site, it was joined back together again.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Today we moved this switch engine out of the factory for the US Army. Getting it to the tracks for duty.
