Meet Michele Simon
Class B Driver | Theme: Making a Difference One Stop at a Time
Michele Simon is one of our dedicated Class B drivers who brings professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to safety to every stop along the way.
How long have you been in transportation?
"I have been in transportation for 14 years and have held my Class B CDL for the past 3 years."
What led you to become a Class B driver?
"My journey started through the trucking company my husband and I launched more than 10 years ago. While I was responsible for training straight truck drivers, I felt it was important to fully understand the role myself. Earning my CDL gave me firsthand knowledge and experience so I could better support and train our drivers."
What does a typical day look like for you?
"My day starts by getting my two teenage children ready for school. I then coordinate deliveries with the warehouse manager, complete my vehicle inspections, ensure freight is loaded safely, and focus on providing excellent customer service at every stop."
What do you enjoy most about interacting with customers and the community?
"I enjoy knowing I can make a positive impact on someone's day. A friendly greeting, a smile, and showing appreciation can go a long way. Building relationships and creating positive interactions leaves a lasting impression."
What is something people may not realize about Class B driving?
"Many people don't realize how impactful Class B drivers are. We often deliver to smaller locations, provide liftgate service, work in residential areas, and perform physically demanding work. It's challenging, but also very rewarding."
What skills are most important for being a successful Class B driver?
"Attentiveness, knowledge, punctuality, commitment, and genuine care for both customers and safety are essential qualities for success."
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
"The most rewarding part is completing my route safely and returning home to my family. Knowing I've served my customers well and left them with a little extra positivity makes every day worthwhile."
What advice would you give young people, especially women, who are interested in a career in transportation?
"Go for it! Transportation offers countless opportunities, whether you want to be a company driver, owner-operator, trainer, manager, or work in a corporate role. The industry needs talented, motivated people, and there is absolutely a place for women to thrive and build successful careers in transportation."
