First Student Belmont was proud to participate in this year’s Belmont Old Home Day, celebrating alongside local families and community members with a booth and a decorated school bus in the annual parade. The day became even more memorable when First Student Belmont was presented with the Community Contribution Award, recognizing the team’s involvement and commitment to the Belmont community.

Throughout the event, the First Student booth generated plenty of activity and gave employees an opportunity to connect with families, students, and community members outside of the school day.

First Student drivers and staff also came together to decorate a school bus for the Old Home Day Parade. Drivers then marched in front of the bus, handing out candy and greeting families along the parade route.

One of the highlights of the day came as the bus traveled through the community. Children and families lining the parade route recognized their school bus drivers and enthusiastically shouted their names as they passed. “That was really what made the day special,” said Billie Jo Sweeney, Location Manager for First Student Belmont. “Hearing children and families calling out the names of their drivers showed the relationships our team has built in this community. Our drivers do much more than transport students to and from school. They become familiar, trusted faces in the lives of the children and families we serve.”

Receiving the Community Contribution Award was especially meaningful for the Belmont team and reflects its continued commitment to being an active part of the communities it serves.
“Our employees deserve the recognition,” Sweeney added. “They volunteered their time, helped decorate the bus, participated in the parade, and represented First Student with pride. I was incredibly proud to see our team out there having fun and connecting with the families we serve.”

First Student Belmont continues to participate in local events and community activities as part of its commitment to building relationships that extend beyond student transportation.
