While the images from New York City are difficult to watch, they tell only part of the story.

Since multiple First Student buses supporting FIFA World Cup 2026™ transportation operations were vandalized during the unrest following the Knicks' championship celebrations, many people have asked the same questions:

Are your employees okay? Will those responsible be held accountable?

First and foremost, our focus remains on our people. Caring for our drivers, dispatchers, technicians, managers, and field teams is core to who we are. We continue to support the employees impacted by these events and are grateful that no significant injuries have been reported.

We are also actively cooperating with local, state, and federal authorities as they investigate these incidents. Our buses are equipped with extensive camera systems, including Samsara AI-powered dash cameras, which will help provide valuable information to investigators.

Our employees were there to help move people safely. They demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and resilience under extremely challenging circumstances, and we could not be more proud of how they responded.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages of support. The response has reinforced something we have always known: the people behind the wheel make all the difference. 💛🚍

Sean Fahey from our Saddleback, CA location, who joined First Student in September 2024, recently received a handcrafted cedar wood plaque from a student’s father as a heartfelt thank-you for the care and connection he has shown on Route 445. The plaque, personalized with Sean’s route number and the nickname students gave him, “Captain,” included the message: “An awesome school bus driver is hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.”

This meaningful recognition reflects the heart of our First Serves program: showing up with care, building trust, and making a lasting impact in the communities we serve.🌟

Our Goderich, ON team was proud to support the Huron County Law Enforcement Torch Run, helping raise over $5,000 for Special Olympics Ontario. 🚍✨

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest global fundraising and public awareness movement for Special Olympics, with law enforcement professionals serving as “Guardians of the Flame” and carrying the “Flame of Hope” into Special Olympics events.

Thank you to our Goderich team and driver Jay Poulter, a former officer who volunteered his time to provide transportation for law enforcement and participants. 💛

You may have seen the images from New York this weekend following the NBA Finals and the New York Knicks historic championship victory.

But the story we're most proud of is about the people behind them.

While supporting transportation operations for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, our drivers, dispatchers, technicians, managers, and field teams found themselves navigating rapidly changing and challenging conditions.

They remained calm. They trusted their training. They looked out for one another. And because of their professionalism, teamwork, and sound judgment, no significant injuries have been reported among our employees, based on what we know today.

Moments like these are a reminder that school bus drivers do far more than transport passengers. They are trusted professionals who make decisions under pressure, put the safety of others first, and serve their communities with care every day.

We're incredibly proud of every employee involved and grateful for the way they supported one another when it mattered most.

First Student and Seneca Valley School District recently partnered to host a Kindergarten Open House at Ehrman Crest Elementary and Middle School, welcoming incoming students and their families.🚍🎒

The event helped young riders build confidence ahead of their first school bus rides through a short bus ride, safety tips from drivers, and engaging activities.

A highlight of the evening was a visit from Safety Dog, who quickly became a student favorite and helped bring bus safety to life.🐶

Following an evacuation order due to a nearby industrial incident in Garden Grove, CA, our team responded to a request from Anaheim Community Hospital to assist with an urgent patient and staff relocation operation. 🚍💛

Our team mobilized two buses and safely transported patients and staff to a partner facility in Aliso Viejo, navigating significant emergency activity and road closures.

High School Students from Cherry Hill Public Schools, Cherry Hill, NJ were invited to write about someone who has made a difference in their lives. One student chose his school bus driver, Ed Rivera ("Mr. Eddie").🚍💛

"Ed is a reliable and dependable driver who keeps his bus in immaculate condition at all times," Location Manager Margo Sadowy shared. "It is heartwarming to see the relationship he has with his students. I am very proud of him and what he has accomplished."
