Marisa joined our Small Luxury Hotels of the World for their Roadshow and spent time getting to know a wonderfully varied group of properties. The thermal springs of Tabacón Thermal Resort in Costa Rica, the ultra-luxury Hermes Galápagos, Sailrock South Caicos in Turks & Caicos and Stein Eriksen Residences in Deer Valley.

We also got a closer look at Rusty Parrot Lodge & Spa in Jackson, Wyoming, Grand Hotel Majestic on Lake Maggiore, and The Ampersand Hotel in London, each with its own very specific traveler in mind.

The best hotel recommendations often start with the little things you’d never find in a basic online search.

Marisa, Alison and Jill spent the evening with our Preferred Hotels & Resorts rep, Casey, and hoteliers from around the world at the Preferred Midwest Roadshow.

We talked Lake Garda vs. Lake Como, discovered a different side of Cape Town, learned about hidden gardens in Lisbon, wine-country escapes in California, family getaways on Kiawah Island, Big Sur hideaways and plenty more.

Knowing that a hotel is beautiful is easy. Knowing which room has the view worth upgrading for, which property works particularly well for a multi-generational family, where you can walk out the door and actually explore, or which little-known destination might be a better fit than the obvious choice — that’s the information we want in our back pocket when we’re planning your trip.
