Each year on the week of July 29th, you will see an Italian flag flying outside our building as we honor and remember Reebie’s former CEO and owner, Leo Licata, on his heavenly birthday.

Raised by Italian immigrant parents who had very little, Leo learned the value of hard work at a young age. While his friends played after school, he helped his father sell and deliver fruit from a van along the side of the road. Over time, Leo turned that van into a truck and eventually purchased a warehouse where he sold and delivered furniture under the name “Licata’s Furniture Hauling and Express.” According to his wife, Elaine, one of Leo’s proudest moments came when he went to renew his truck licenses and was directed to the line for “large fleets", a true sign of how far his company had come.

As the business continued to grow, Leo made the major decision to purchase W.C. Reebie & Brother. With the support of his family and dedicated employees, Reebie grew into a leading company within the Allied network, with four warehouses and a fleet of more than 200 trucks serving the Chicagoland area and beyond. Leo’s story is a reminder of what can be accomplished through hard work, persistence, and dedication. Happy birthday, Leo. Your legacy continues to inspire us today!
