🚂🚂 Two Big Boys. One historic moment.

Big Boy No. 4014 made a rare stop in Scranton, Pennsylvania, joining Steamtown National Historic Site's No. 4012 — the first time two Big Boys have stood together since the early 1960s. Tens of thousands came out to see it.

Now through June 30, both steam locomotives remain on display as undergoes routine maintenance. The journey continues, honoring America’s 250th, with our commemorative Silver Spike in tow as .

Union Pacific's Eric Gehringer joined leaders from across Nebraska to highlight our participation at the Great American State Fair, showcasing how rail connects communities and drives the economy.

Union Pacific’s Eric Gehringer, executive vice president-Operations, emphasized how technology and innovation drive Safety, Service and Operational Excellence during a keynote at the International Crosstie and Fastening System Symposium.

He underscored how our continued investments in advanced maintenance and inspection tools enhance operations, reduce incidents and improve network reliability.

Looking ahead, Gehringer said the proposed UP-NS combination will scale this approach – improving network reliability, streamlining freight movement and expanding deployment of next-gen tech.
