Hump-day take: while everyone's watching truckload, rail just snuck into the winner's circle. ππ¦
What's actually moving the market midweek:
π Rail & intermodal are quietly surging β total rail traffic up 5.6%, and intermodal is pulling away from carload. When truckload tightens, smart freight finds the rails.
π¦ LTL keeps climbing β rates now up ~65% since 2018. The "cheap LTL" days are a memory.
β οΈ Meanwhile, freight bankruptcies keep piling up β the recession thinned the herd, and the survivors have pricing power.
The throughline: diversified modes win tight markets. Intermodal isn't a fallback β it's a margin strategy. (It's why drayage + intermodal sit at the center of what we do at HTG.)
Are you leaning into intermodal yet β or still all-in on the road? π
