Before you board the South Shore Line, take a minute to check what you can bring along for the ride. A good rule of thumb for luggage: if you would carry it onto a plane, you can carry it onto the train.

Bags must fit either:
• Under your seat: 11 in. high x 15 in. deep x 25 in. wide
• In the overhead racks: 14 in. high x 17 in. deep

Coolers must be stored under your seat and fit within the same under-seat dimensions.

ADA service animals are welcome on the South Shore Line. Service animals are specifically trained to perform tasks for a person with a disability and must remain under the control of their handler at all times.

Small animals in carry-on travel cages are also permitted when safely stowed under the seat. For the comfort and safety of all passengers, animals may not occupy seats or create significant disturbances while on board.

Service Advisory: To accommodate passengers attending Morgan Wallen taking place at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Soldier Field, the South Shore Line plans to stop select trains at Metra’s 18th Street Station, which connects passengers directly to the Soldier Field entrance via a pedestrian walkway.

Temporary Busing: South Shore Line Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor transfer passengers are advised busing substitution will be in place on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, 2026, due to construction in Chicago.

There will be NO SERVICE to Museum Campus or Van Buren Street stations on June 13 – June 14.
