🌟🌟🌟 TO SAY THAT I AM PROUD of this girl would be the understatement of the century. Actually… I am proud of US. 🌟🌟🌟
The start of 2nd grade — the school bus, the neighbors, the public school — everything that we imagined school would be — began like normal, *except* for that Maci’s teacher was on maternity leave for the first two months. They had an amazing long-term sub, but when teacher came back, she was absent about 75% of the time, with new substitutes almost every day of the week. Add to that a difficult female student in the class, and the fact that Maci’s 2 best friends in her grade left the school this year… poor Maci was fit to be tied!
I did what I NEVER thought I would do, and because her little heart told me so.. and my mama instinct knew… I pulled her MID-YEAR with NO CLUE how to teach her, what to teach her, where to even begin… we jumped ship and into a lifeboat together, and we figured it out - day by day, week by week — and she CRUSHED IT.

Not only did she soar academically, but she’s sleeping better, eating better, happier, calmer, better regulated, getting along with siblings better, has improved confidence, determination, and a lot more time for spontaneous play.
She actually has the energy, interest, and stamina for after school activities now.
She’s had the time and space to invest in quality friendships - some existing, and some new, through unique programs like YScholars at the local YMCA.
I know our story might not be everyone’s story — but we firmly believe that school shouldn’t have to be something you “recover” from.
Maci — I’m so proud to be your teacher, AND your mom. Now let’s have the best summer ever — WE EARNED IT!!!! 😆✨
