Preventative Maintenance Checklist Summary:

WHAT:
1.) DOT Annual Inspection: All commercial motor vehicles over 10,000 pounds are subject to an annual inspection.

WHO:
2.) Authorized Inspectors: FMCSA, CVSA, and State Troopers can inspect your vehicle.

DAILY Inspection Checklist (6 items):

⚙️Walk-Around Inspection: Check exterior and interior visually.
⚙️Tires: Inspect tire pressure, tread depth, and signs of wear.
⚙️Engine: Check oil, coolant, and other fluids; inspect components like the radiator, belts, hoses, and wiring.
⚙️Fuel Tank & Battery: Look for cracks and leaks; ensure battery levels are normal.
⚙️Brake System: Inspect pads, lines, and fluids.
⚙️Fluids: Check levels of fuel, oil, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid.

WEEKLY Inspection Checklist (10 items): ✅

1.) Visual Inspection: Ensure windows, mirrors, steps, lights, and doors are in good condition.
2.) Engine Compartment: Check all components, oil levels, heating, and cooling systems.
3.) Lights & Signals: Test headlights, brake lights, hazards, and turn signals.
4.) Brake System: Inspect parking brake, pads, fluid, and hose.
5.) Cab Interior: Check seatbelts, horn, windshield, airbags, controls, and gauges.
6.) Trailer: Inspect frame, brake chamber, mud flaps, and shock absorbers.
7.) Coupling System: Check kingpin, locking pin, air lines, and other coupling components.
8.) Tires: Examine axle seals, rims, lug nuts, tire inflation, and air pressure.
9.) Documentation: Ensure all paperwork is up-to-date and in good condition.

MONTHLY Inspection Checklist: 🗓️

•Brake System: Conduct a more detailed inspection, including drums and rotors.
•Cooling System: Check radiator, coolant levels, hoses, and belts.
•Exhaust System: Look for leaks or damage.
•Transmission: Inspect fluid levels, leaks, and overall functionality.

BI-ANNUAL Inspection Checklist: ✔
