Many travelers are surprised to learn how much work goes into getting their bags from the aircraft to the baggage carousel. After landing, every checked bag, gate-checked item, stroller, wheelchair, and oversized item must be unloaded from the aircraft, transported across the ramp, and delivered to baggage claim by ground crews.
When multiple flights arrive around the same time, those same teams may be assisting several aircraft at once, all while working safely around active aircraft operations.
