800 Bricks, 2 Tons of Sand, 3 tons of stone and a few gallons of sweat later and the Depot "Saved by the Brits" will now last another 100 Years! My sincere thanks to my Pals that flew in to do the work, Paul and Tony are utter stars! They worked relentlessly both this Year and last Year to lay 2,000 bricks to hold the old Depot up!

The Depot has stood solid for over 110 Years, however in the last 3 years the White bricks that the depot is made of have started crumbling, the whole area has more standing water than ever before, the river is high all the time and the finger of suspicion is being pointed at the Dam in Leland raising the level of the lake and in so doing raising the level of the river and the standing water alongside it. As the Depot is at the lowest point in the town it is suffering badly from the water table. The water is often above the concrete plinth that the building sits on and the White bricks soak it up and crumble.

Few local contractors were interested in taking on the work and the quotes would have made a statue cry! . . . . Enter my Pals from England, Tony and Paul, Paul often comes to Cedar to help me out with projects, he's been a friend for 40+ Years, Tony is a master stonemason (known as a "Brickie" back in England) Once night earlier in 2018 I was in a bar in England with Tony and showed him the photos of the crumbling bricks, "that's an easy fix" he stupidly said, "I could do that in a week easily" Well, we now had a bet and the next thing you know, Tony and Paul are flying out to Cedar to fix the Depot! And fix it they did! (During the hottest week of the Year) Sadly, As the boards on the roadside docks were pulled up the damage to the brickwork became even more apparent. The guys did a fantastic job doing remedial work and may have to return in 2019 to complete the work . . IF their wives let them!

Some of the CENTURY old local names, written in pencil on the White brick, that have now been preserved since the building was painted. The M & NE moved on from transporting logs and potatoes to moving passengers and at it's peak in 1915 carried 190,000 passengers, the M & NE was the only privately owned passenger railway in the U.S.
