The Cave-in-Rock Ferry has CLOSED due to high wind gusts. The high wind gusts are causing rough river conditions and making the conditions unsafe to operate. We will update this post when we are able to open again.

UPDATE AT 11 AM CST
Monday, March 16, 2026

The Cave-In-Rock Ferry will remain open. The high west winds caused a few issues this morning. We will remain OPEN and operating until 10:00 pm. Last run from illinois side is at 9:40 pm and the last run from Kentucky side is at 9:50 pm. This is always subject to change with the predicted wind forecast. If anything changes due to wind, we will update this page accordingly.

The Cave In Rock Ferry will operate 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026. The last run from the Illinois side will be at 5:40 pm and the last run from the Kentucky side will be at 5:50 pm. The ferry will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
