I'm excited to be presenting at VAI's first Verticon convention (formerly HeliExpo).

With the uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) sector expanding rapidly, many aviation departments operating drones experience challenges when trying to balance their organization’s safety and production needs. This session will provide insights into the key considerations for safety and risk management in UAS operations. The session will provide an overview of safety risk management, the goal of which is to provide data on hazards, risks, and controls. We will also emphasize the importance of establishing a safety management system early, looking at the fundamental operations of managing risk, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation. I look forward to seeing you there!

My segment is part of a larger session called 'Defining Value in Safety Management Systems', where I will focus on the wider benefits of an SMS to UAS operators, how to advocate for an SMS within your organization, building a culture of safety and more.
