🎉 Teamwork Makes History Shine! 🏛️

The Recreation Division team rolled up their sleeves and dived into history to give Fort Caspar Museum the TLC it deserves! 🧹✨ Together, we worked to clean and prepare this incredible piece of Wyoming's heritage, and WOW—what an experience it was!

As we dusted off exhibits and polished artifacts, we couldn’t help but be fascinated by the stories that this historic fort holds. Did you know Fort Caspar was named after Lt. Caspar Collins, a courageous soldier who defended this area during the Native American Wars? The fort was originally established in the 1860s as a military outpost and trading hub, playing a vital role in assisting settlers and supporting westward expansion.

The museum holds countless treasures, from original artifacts used by soldiers and pioneers to detailed displays that bring Wyoming’s rich past to life. We even got a closer look at some of the unique items, like vintage weaponry, beautifully preserved clothing, and historical maps that tell stories of exploration and resilience.

Our team had so much fun exploring and learning together, and now we can’t wait to share this piece of history with YOU! Whether you're a history buff or just curious about the roots of the Cowboy State, Fort Caspar Museum is a must-see destination.

👉 Plan your visit today and step back in time to experience the sights, stories, and spirit of Wyoming's past. We promise you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for the history that shaped this beautiful state.

Let’s celebrate history together—see you soon at Fort Caspar Museum! 🏕️✨

Standard Oil No. 1 is on track to return to Casper! 🚂

Built in 1920, this steam locomotive once helped switch tank cars at Casper’s Standard Oil refinery, a major part of the city’s railroad and industrial history.

Fort Caspar Museum is working with community partners to bring the locomotive home and place it near the museum entrance as part of a larger effort to preserve and share Casper’s refinery, railroad, and industrial history.

The first phase of the project includes a $15,000 fundraising goal to help cover transportation, site preparation, interpretive planning, and early preservation work.

More details and future fundraising opportunities will be shared as planning continues. For additional information, please contact Fort Caspar Museum.
