🚨 TRAFFIC & ROAD CLOSURE ADVISORY: Capitola Beach Festival (Sept 26–27) 🚨

Planning to head into Capitola Village this weekend for the Beach Festival? Please plan ahead for significant road closures, detour routes, and heavy pedestrian traffic!

⛔ ROAD CLOSURES & ADVISORIES
-Esplanade & San Jose Ave: Closed starting Saturday at 0700 hours.
-Little Wharf 3-Mile Fun Run (Sat 0700–1100): Cliff Drive, Wharf Road (49th Ave to Stockton Ave), Esplanade, the 100/200 blocks of Monterey Ave, and the 100 block of San Jose Ave will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
-Stockton Bridge (Sat 1830–2130): Closed for the Lighted Nautical Parade. Vehicles on Stockton Ave will be diverted onto Capitola Ave.

🅿️ PARKING & DETOURS
-No Parking / Tow Away Zones are posted in the area and will be enforced.
-Shuttle buses for race participants will operate from 49th Ave to Capitola Mall.

Please follow all detour signs and directions from law enforcement and race volunteers. Drive slowly and watch for pedestrians throughout the Village!

The City of Santa Cruz has authorized temporary road closures and detours in the Westside neighborhood on Sunday, September 27, 2026 for the purpose of holding the 44th Annual Santa Cruz.

Road Closures
The following roads will be closed or controlled between the hours of 6:30 am and 1:30 pm:
West Cliff Drive from Depot Park to Swanton Blvd
Beach Street from Pacific Avenue to West Cliff Drive
Bay Street from West Cliff Drive to Laguna Street
Delaware Avenue from Swanton Blvd to Natural Bridges Drive
Natural Bridges Drive from Delaware Avenue to Mission Street
Mission Street from Western Drive to Shaffer Road
Western Drive from Mission Street to Highway 1
Shaffer Road between Highway 1 and Mission Street​​

🚗Project Date: Sept. 27, 2026 - Oct. 25, 2026
🕗Project Time: Sunday - Thursday, 8 p.m. - 6 a.m.
🛣Project Location: Capitola Road at 38th Avenue; Capitola Road at 41st Avenue; and 41st Avenue between Capitola Road and the Capitola Mall entrance

Starting Sept. 27, nighttime construction will take place along Capitola Road and 41st Avenue for an emergency sanitation repair project. The project consists of replacing approximately 1,000 feet of sanitary sewer at three locations.

The roadway will remain open during construction; however, lane closures may be necessary while work is underway. Commuters should expect minimal delays, allow additional travel time and use caution when traveling through the area.
